Default Supercharged (HSV STATESMAN)

I spotted a black car that appeared to me that looked like a current HSV version of a statesman on the westgate bridge the other day.The thing that really caught my eye was the huge emblem or sticker along the bottom of the door, the emblem or sticker was V SUPERCHARGED.The car sounded like an 8 cylinder aswell.Could it be that HSV are bringing out a blown 8??????

I highly doubt it. Think about the demographic who usually own this vehicle.

I think the alloytech can be supercharged and there was some rumours that holden still would rather supercharge then turbocharge.

But in saying that i think walkinshaw have a supercharged V8 kit.

Stateys havent run Superchargers since the Ecotec was phased out at the end of the WK Model. The WL just had the Hi output Alloytech instead.

Would be suprised if it were the new grange, why would the Luxo Model Score the S/C V8 and the Sports/performance models be N/A?

Probably someone with a stato/grage that has had a Blower fitted aftermarket.

Yeah Denny Monney has stated that there will be no turbocharging of the V6, due to packaging issues the V6 will be supercharged. Source = Last months Wheels Mag.

I read in either wheels or motor that holden are bringing out a supercharged version of the alloytech v6 to combat the xr6 turbo, could have been a test mule?

The old V6 S/C was good for 600Nm on a blower kit. Think what a new age V6 would do?

But was never released with 600nm. There are others here too that are achieveing over 600nm with their XR6T/F6's

But for a car that didn't top 400Nm stock it's a cheap option for massive torque on a stock engine, With better base the alloytech should get close too 500Nm from factory. The old S/C was never respected for it's real potential and i don't know why.
I seen the footage of the guy with the blower kit run it did a lazy 6 flat 0-100 with almost full tank and at running temp.

i wouldnt trust an alloytech v6 supercharged...i guess because its new technology and i doubt it could make the same power - happy to eat my words....would rather go the tried and proven xr6t if i wanted a quick 6

the ecotec supercharged V6 has 5nm of torque MORE than a ford VCT 6 cylinder both in stock form
and only slightly more kw from memory

for a forced induction motor i dont see 5nm as very much of a gain over the competition
but from what ive read and been told the S/C block is EXTREMELY strong.. but the stock V6 block is a piece of junk and blows way to easy!

will definatly be interesting to see the competition to the XR6T and phoons

Mate a S/C V6 Engine will never be as attractive as a XR6T.

I was pretty much told the same thing, Ecotec engine was a little weak around the pistons etc, But the S/C wasn't. Also was said the Buick V6 had better pistons for going S/C. Maybe holden couldn't have boosted it up and have the V6 S/C have more Torque then the V8's?.

Have you seen one go? They are nice and much more smooth too drive you wouldn't know it was a ecotec. And huge torque wheel spin off the mark around 45-65kp/h. i think holden just let that engine go it had huge potential and was over looked many times in favour of the V8's.
