Default Selling involvement

Gday. Just curious as to what selling a car involves. Never done it myself and have had thoughts of selling one of my cars. What certificates etc do you need? Thoughts of selling the XY but i know it won't pass a roadworthy as is because it has no heater hoses. Want to buy a house and start life a bit more. Would still buy another V8 but something a bit cheaper like cedrics XE he has for sale on here. Bit more driver friendly, less maintenance with motor and would be left with a few thousand to put towards house deposit. So what steps are involved in selling such a car privately.

Depends, you can sell it without a RWC, pretty sure anyway . I sold my last car without one, but to change the rego over obviously it was the other guys responsibility to fix whatever needed it.

Thats the easiest way IMO. Depends how much stuffing around you can put up with.

Depends on where you are(this is Vic) but you can advertise it as registered and sell it as Polyal says without a RWC. The buyer signs the papers and is up to them to transfer and obtain RWC but hold on your receipt as proof of purchase. (speed cameras etc) Whether this is 'legal' or not, dont know, but I do it constantly and is accepted practice. I nearly have to have a LMCT license for amount of cars I have sold and bought. You can also hand in the plates, take the remaining money due and sell un registered but is harder to sell and wont get the money it would otherwise.

Go to Vic Roads and get transfer papers which pretty much explains everything ..........unless you are not in vic, then I have just wasted 3 minutes of my life!
