Hey everyone,
Just a newbie question, the main difference between the WP and the WQ is the body styling right? The WQ has the headlights with the pop out bits and the rear reflectors are different. The WP has a much less shaped headlight and rear end? |

Also, the WQ (Zetec manual, anyhow) has shorter gearing. Some different colours too, I think.

The dash is different too, I think Swaytan is the best to answer this one as he's owned both.

Dash, interior colours/trim, exterior colours, front headlights and bumper, rear headlights and bumper... and then on the Zetec model; The 16" alloys are standard on the WQ, optional on the WP, and shorter Manual gearing on the WQ then the WP.
That's all I can remember...

The side body mouldings are also slightly different with the WQs tapering more than the WP. Would love a WQ dash in my car with the soft touch material.

I don't like the WQ headlights, that little buldge thing is weird. And I don't like its dashboard either, or the way the speedo is layout.

WP Zetec & Ghia have the same suspension components as the LX, yes, but they're lower & firmer. They also have ABS & EBD, which the LX missed out on far as I know.

there was no increase in engine power at all from WP to WQ, only cosmetic, gear box and suspension changes.

ABS was optional on the LX, with the automatics i think?
Steffo what is your source on the suspension info? As far as I know they were all identical, the ride between each was the same and it didn't look lowered at all.

yer i have to agree with steffo, when buying my car i was told that the suspension on the zetec was lower and stiffer than the Lx. also the abs and EBD came standard with the zetec. i knew it was an option with the LX but it wasnt worth the money.. the dealer told me and i also think its on the fact sheet from ford about the Fiestas.

ABS and EBD aren't available on the WP LX Manual or else I would have certainly have ticked that box.

Oh gosh
Here goes; IN THE WP; LX featured ABS with EBD only when the Automatic was ticked (i.e... auto came STD with ABS and EBD). On the manual cars, it was not an option Zetec model featured alloys, interior upgrade, foglights, ABS and EBD (STD no matter what transmission was selected). Ghia model offered the same alloys as the Zetec, but as a 5dr and 'luxury' model the interior had Velour trim. It also featured ABS and EBD standard, and added a 6 stacker over the Zetec & LXs single CD. The only option for the Ghia was the curtain airbags. Suspension, Ride height, Transmission and Engine specs were the same for each model. WQ models; The LX now features ABS with EBD as optional on LX manual transmission, however standard when the Auto is ordered. Zetec features standard 16 inch alloys (previously optional on the WP), fog lights, sports suspension and lower ratios in the Manual. The Auto box misses out on any 'sporty' enhancements, and is the same as other WQ models. Ghia still has the 15 inch alloys from previous WP models

I prefer my WQ over the WP I had, but that's just me.
I prefer the dash, the dials, pretty much everything. Of course I'm going to be biased though, seeing as I now own the WQ. My WQ also runs heaps better than my WP ever did, but that's probably due to how I've run my WQ in. It would be good though if Ford thought of doing something more in the way of a body kit for the WQ. |

I do agree with you that WQ's interior looks better than WP's. To me the WQ's just overally look better than WP's.

WQ gets thumb grippy things on the steering wheel. A small thing but I like.
