I agree. The only rightful place for a canon exhaust is on the back of a 2nd hand 2001 basic model Lancer being driven by a 17 yo P Plater!

Around here theres heaps of commodore utes with twin cannons and even XR8's and XR6T's with cannons, its pretty sad that they spend that much on a car but wont even put decent full exhaust on but just whack a set of cannons on.

Not really with it, must be getting old. How big do they have to be to be classed as a cannon?

My wifes Lancer MR has a Remus with twin 70mm dia pipes, that just looks and sounds just the part. Proven to reduce fuel consumption too. Are these cannons, or are cannons only the huge ones you see around that look like rolled sheetmetal with the big noise?

That's it. I'm gonna start charging you guys for the therapy i'm going to have to go through to recover. :
If you've got $30K (or near enough) to spend on a second hand SS/XR8 you can fork out the $500 for a decent cat back.

I know I am getting old, but I always that thought cannons were those "huge large oversized ugly crooked exposed mufflers" that you normally see behind Nissan's Subaru's Mitsubishi's etc!

I can’t remember if I have seen any behind a Toyota. Ahh yes that’s right, twins behind a Soarer

Your not getting old your 100% correct - some people on here think any aftermarket muffler is a freaken cannon. Cannons are CYLINDRICAL and usually but not always angled. That pic of the ute does not have cannons.

I love the sound of the setup like you have, my mate had an AU XR8 ute with a similar system. Really looked and sounded absolutely fantastic. If you have a V8, may as well make the most of it and enjoy the sounds as well.

Yes, I have found out from a reliable source that cannons are those oversized Milo tins that don't do anything for performance except make an awful loud noise. Normally found hanging under the back of 200SX and 300ZXs, Soarers etc. Proper civilized aftermarket rear mufflers like Remus are NOT cannons.
