Snipe all you want, caus i snipe too and you'll never beat me!!! muahahaha. ;)

If only everyone tried to snipe at the last minute instead of inflating the price of the item two days into the auction... idiots.

Anyone who complains about being sniped is a fool.
The whole point of proxy bidding or ebay bidding on your behalf is..
You enter the highest amount you are willing to pay for it and THAT IS THAT.

If you enter in $100 and it goes for $110 and you find yourself saying, oh, I would have paid 110, damn.. Then you should have bloody entered $110. I've been outbid on heaps of shit but I enter in what I am willing to pay for it, if someone else wants to pay more than I want to then the item is all theirs.

yeah I agree with Jade there, all I do is add my max with about 20 seconds to go and I get it 9/10. If I get sniped usually i'm happy the next day cause I still have a full wallet

As a buyer, I snipe all the time. As a seller, I could care less who snipes. I've seen sellers write warnings on their auction pages, warning buyers that sniping won't be tolerated. Pfffft..... It's all part of the game I say.

What is sniping? Is it setting an auto bid near the end of the auction? I can't see the harm....

They are only selling themselves out if you ask me. Anyway I am the biggest sniper there is. If the item ends late at night and I really want it, I will wait up. The only way I have won is by doing this. If I bid early some bugger will normally beat the price and the price will get inflated.

YUP, snipping is placing no bids what so ever, and just watching the item, then at the last possible second whack in the winning bid.

I am Dellboy_999 on e-bay.

LOL! Everyone snipes. If you want something badly, you will sit there until the last minute and keep throwing in bids. I'm a sniper, and have been sniped in the past. No dramas though, it's all part of the system. I will even set my alarm in the middle of the night if there is something I need (okay, usually anything I WANT!)...

I love sniping. I'll sit out the whole auction (or the price will go through the roof!) and then at the last minute enter a bit that was like $50 above what the last price is. You're pretty much assured of getting the item then.

Sniping is the way, you have to be commited. I got my girlfriend to snipe for me, but she had to enter my pw, and mucked it up at the last minute. DAMN! oh well.

One way to combat sniping would to just make it so that if a bid is entered in the last 5 minutes of an item ending, the auction time is extended by 5 minutes...would be good for sellers, bad for buyers...

Its when you wait til the last 20 seconds of an item's listing finishing, and then put in a bid. So you've watched the entire auction and not bid and then put your bid in in the last 20 seconds.. assures you of winning pretty much. Unless you dont bid enough!

Bah. Those auto extend auctions are a guaranteed way of my computer getting a hole punched through it. :

Nothing worse than thinking you have picked up a new bargain to find the auction ain't over!

This system is in place on trademe.co.nz and works well. When you set up an auction yuo can choose whether or not you want it to auto extend. Another feature trademe has that I think ebay lacks (not sure because there is no ebay in NZ) is auto-bid. You set your maximum price and click auto bid, and every time someone makes a bid you automatically out-bid by $1 instantly.

Ebay bids up to your max bid. So if the current bid is $20, and i bid $25, then someone else bids $24, and the auction ends, all i pay is $24. I think thats how it works.

kinda the same

Say you put in your bid for $100 and you get beaten by $110 then thats too bad. Its just when you get sniped out by like 50c thats annoying!

I'm on as lockcore.

I have no prob sniping people. No matter what time of the day/night/morning I'll set my alarm up just to get up a few minutes before hand and throw in a bid in the last few seconds. Its a mad rush caning someone on an item and winning it.

If it means I pay more but I get the win I'm happy. Its the principle of winning.

There are sites which snipe for you but some need your ebay password etc and I have no trust in these.

Go the snipers! My old motorbike just got sold tonight, the final bidding in the last couple of hours started getting hot, with the final bid being made in the last minute! Went 300 bucks over what I thought... from a buy over 1000 k's away. And the bike is 24 years old!
