Default The AFD curse??..

In the last week my car has spat the dummy. But all is good now; but its funny how stuff happens just when it could cause the most pain as possible.

So who else has had to do some last minute stuff to their car? Either cosmetic or mechanical?

Ive done a few interior mods..but also replaced my radiator and alternator. All that said its running perfectly atm!

My power steering hose melted and needed to be replaced. 3 hr job with turbo in the way, My central locking actuator is stuffed and I have to use the key, My battery lead connections ****ed up and left me stranded in weribee for 2 hours longer than I would have liked.

This all happened in the last week. I hate cars.

My coolant bottle swelled up and started ****ing water outta the side. I haven't replaced it though, so that could be interesting!

I've been doing other last minute stuff though, like putting my interior back together but that isn't causing any hassles.

my powersteering belt keeps coming off I havn't driven the car much in the last 2 weeks. the idler pulley has been replaced, the belt was replaced, then harmonic balancer was replaced yesterday which was meant to be the main cause.. but driving to work today it came off again... grrr.

so i'm going to buy a new pulley for the power steering pump itself and i need another new power steering belt its starting to fray already.

before you do that check the alignment of the pump itself. you might need to just fit washers to pack it out a bit (many other guys on here have, mine i just needed to adjust). i find it hard to believe that the pump pulley would be rooted...?

thanks galapogos.. i'll have a look at that.. but i don't see why the alignment wouldn't be right as i've never had problems with it before. i noticed before that the pulley on the power steering pump can move in out very slightly.. maybe 1 or 2 mm.. not sure if thats normal or not.

3 days before last years Albury Wodonga AFD, i took the car to carlovers and gave it a quick wash.

I came out and the car just went white.
SO did i.

It took me a full days work to get it looking good again.
I havnt been back there yet.

the curse continues...

i bought a new power steering belt and it seems.. ok.

but last night i think i've completely killed my clutch.. in every gear its not engaging properly.. i can drive it very very light on the throttle but if i accelerate just a little bit it just revs and doesn't do anything and the clutch pedal has a really weird feeling to it...

but it won't stop me i'm still going to drive it there. lol

Sounds like you killed the pressure plate. Once they overheat they lose all thier tension and pretty much collapse.

My trans keeps playing around and dropping into neutral at random, making the car jerk around a bit. Kinda looks like a person learning to drive manual. Should make it to Geelong and back though.
