Default Good news

You guys are getting rid of me, for a while.

The army has decided I'm not blind and let me in (again) so I've got 6 odd months of training coming up. Get to do basic again (yaaaaaaaay.....). Leaving at the end of march. Full time infantry, none of this silly weekend warrior stuff.

After that it's Townsville, Darwin or Brisbane. Hoping for Brisvegas, with Darwin second pick (call me crazy).

Because I like painting rocks! :P I might go Royal Australian Easy Money Earners later on in life, but I loved the grunt stuff in the reserves so I'll do that for a while.

Spent 20 years in RAAF watching you guys jump out of Herc's. I have three tips for you!
1. Duck.
2. Don't share your Hootchie! Unless it's a US army female on exchange!
3. A 6x is NOT a rally car!
Good Luck and congrats it is a worthwhile thing to do something you actually want to do, not many people get the chance.
PS. When you guys are in the Boonies, feel for the poor RAAF guys back at the Hilton on allowences!

At least the 14lb 7.62 SLR is not a required personal weapon to carry through the 'J' any more. I reiterate :

Ahh, the SLR, now there was a tool. A nice little hole in the front, while 10lb of steaming blue flesh gets blown out the back. None of this modern nancy-boy plastic stuff.

Only fired the SLR when I was a 13 year old cadet back in 89 at the Pucka range. Had to learn drill with it also, carry the thing around for a few hours. :

I'm sorry to heard you're back in. I was regular arty, went reserve and ended up as and easy money earner. I was offered a spot back in regs, even after I lopped of three fingertips, but I said no..... too much heartache and stuffing around because of injury.
Good luck to you, and try to get out of grunting asap. I hear they're calling out for recovery mechanics.
