Default HUB ADAPTERS: come and get em

OKAY I finally tracked down the details of the place where i got my adapters from.

From the Qld Modification guide "The fitting of spacers or adaptors between wheels and
hubs, additional to those provided by the vehicle manufacturer, is not permitted."

Best to check with your local authorities..

I have no issues with them myself but voided insurance might be of concern to some...

Yeah, the poor bugger that gets slammed into when your hub adaptor lets go and sends your car out of control.
Or, how about forking out the costs to replace a few traffic signs and a power pole. Not cheap items.

Better pull stacks of 911's off the roads then, and allert Stutguard that they should stop making them.

They would be legal if your car was re-engineered with them.

From the Qld Modification guide "NOT fitting spacers to allow the fitment of totally huge, cool as, blingin' wheels is for by the book f-heads". :lookedat:

seriously is there any evidence that shows that these things break?! I've never seen any, they are solid metal and rest on the hub, not the studs.....it's just like having that massive piece of metal at the back of E-series offset wheels. I don't want to start a big debate here but everyone uses them and if wheels were flying off left right and center then no one would use them would they? :

Personally I think the only risk in using them is to your insurance and maybe risking a defect notice here and there.

exactly, I used them for 2 years and still do on my skid rims and bought them off a bloke that made (makes?) them for a heap of circuit cars... I was only pointing out the Qld legalities for those who care

while cops are a slight worry, as mentioned i think the insurance issue is the biggest problem...
in terms of stress etc i can't imagine there being anymore compared to normal wheels... but i can't see an issue with them... but i'm not the law :/

If they are just a steel plate that spaces the wheel from the hub, these are dangerous as the wheel is not clamped onto the hub with enough force and the conection is weaker due to the minimal thread between nut and stud.
The difference between E-series and spacer is the nut sit's further and uses more stud thread.
If the spacer bolts onto the hub and has it's own wheel nuts, then this would be a safer option as long as the spacer is of similar material to the hub to support the weight. All the thread would be used!

And as long as the hub adapter actaully has a hub to locate the wheel on, the hub bears the force not the studs.

From what I could ascertain, its only spacers that are illegal, due to the construction characteristics that allow the weight to be rested on the stud. You could argue that hub adapters are a legitimate mod because of the construction qualities (and the fact that it isnt a spacer, rather an adaptor) Thats just my interpretation of it anyway

But at the end of the day the concept of hub adapaters is correct, its the quality of materials used that has to be seriously looked at.

couldnt agree with you more, dell. with the appropriate materials and construction the hub adaptors wouldnt pose as big a problem that every transport authority was making them out to be

All of the hub adaptors ive seen are just fancy spacers, im yet to see a hub adaptor with an actual hub spigot on them.

I heard of some with front but not rear spigots, I think if the adapaters do nat make the car like orginal but with different offset then they are not worth anything.

Donno about the ones youve seen but these are HUB ADAPTERS not spacers as in they have their own studs to hold the wheel.
Also have hub spigots. At least the rears did on mine. Just use two sets of rears on an Eseries and ur fine.

Last time i spoke to them (a while ago) they were selling for 55-65dollars each.


Disclaimer: I dont know the company personally, have just bought stuff off them. Legality IS a bit grey over the use of them but i will stand behind them in terms of safety. Mine didnt break after extreme abuse and i havnt heard of others breaking.

what ISO numbers are on the sticker, any company can get iso 2000/2001 just means they have processes and can prove they exist.

I have seen some with front and rear hub spigots, I'm not sure where they came from though. But at least they exist its just a matter of finding them.

i have spacers on my car now with the 20'z and it has been fine they have a lip for the wheel to sit over and they are bolt on type, i ran simila spacers on my panno with no hub lip and broke the front rotor at the hub, also the rear hub came loose, i now put loctite on the studs that bolt the spacer to the car so they dont come loose and i have had no probs, if there is no hub lip dont use them u will break stuff.
