Hi everyone, I’m having some issues with my 2016 mondeo diesel and could use your advice. Photo 1: There’s an oil leak from the breather pipe. I can smell burning oil inside the car, and when I open the hood, there’s smoke coming out. Is this a common issue? If I replace the hose clamps on both ends of the pipe, would that fix the problem? I’ve looked online for the breather pipe but haven’t been able to find the part. Photo 2: I noticed a cracked turbo hose and contacted several parts shops, but none of them have it or know where to get it. Is this part only available from a Ford dealer, or does anyone know where I can source it? Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! |

Hi and welcome.
I don't know that engine, but for the parts, I'd try an auto-dismantler first. If there's visible smoke coming out, I'd say there's something serious wrong, maybe get a mechanic to advise. |

I'd say that breather hose look fairly normal every MD I've seen is a little wet there....how many KMs has the engine done? When was the last time your cabin filter was replaced?(give the engine a wash & replace cabin filter & see how it goes)I'd also put it up on ramps & pull the under tray off & check underneath for any other leaks....sounds like it may also have the factory HPFP adaptor oil leak(as I say once U have the engine tray off U will know if the rear engine mount near the firewall/gearbox is wet, then look up the back of the engine block towards the HPFP area & see if it's wet there.....as for your boost hose, I'd just be putting a genuine Ford item, but I'd be checking what it cost getting it shipped out of Europe(could be cheaper, also the Kuga & focus run the same engine)

Thanks! I’ve actually tried all the auto dismantlers in Sydney, but funny enough, none of them have the part. The smoke coming out is just from the oil leak in the breather pipe, so it’s not something serious. |

I also got a quote from the Ford dealer for the turbo hose—$215, which seems a bit steep for just a hose. I’ve reached out to Bayford for a quote and am waiting for their reply. |

For that kind of money for the hose I'd be looking at a "repair"...
Not sure if this is the right diameter hose, but if it is, and they make steel exhaust tubing to match, I'd cut off that bend and join a new one in. It's quite hard to find things on AliExpress, but once you find something close, it will start showing similar items. You may have to dig around a bit, but it's likely to be worth it. I've had some success. Try this one for a starting point: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008013138314.html |

P.S. If you're planning to buy off AliExpress, get your order in ASAP, as they tend to close down soon, for Chinese New Year, i.e. soon.
I ordered stuff last night - it said "Ships in 9 days" but most or all of it shipped already. Delivery is typically much faster than they say, and they provide detailed notifications so you can generally see exactly where it's up to. I've only had a couple of things that weren't up to spec, but you kindof get what you pay for. If it's real cheap, beware. That said, there are lots of traders selling the same things at different prices, so don't buy the dearest either! And watch out for "Colors". Typically, they use those to select different options and you have to be careful to order what you want. Often, the first thing listed is cheap to hook you, but the one you want is much dearer. Cunning people! |

Anthor possible thing that can make a diesel breath heavy is a dirty air filter (engine)
