Hi
Was wondering out of the following cars which is cheap to work on, easy and cheap to get parts for if something goes and which is best cars hyundai getz hyundai acent toyota yaris toyota celica mitsubishi lancer Volkswagen Beetle Any answer would be great Thanks |

Umm a Beetle covers a hell of a lot of eras. Never touched a modern one but lotsa oldies.
The Yaris should be the go here, Not much experience with hyundai's so my default would be the Yaris Recommend an Evo though

Ye Yaris would be my pick.
But why if ur a Ford fan don't u buy an AU. Cheap, reliable, easy to get parts for and work on urself??? |

As long as you get one with as low k's as possible and hopefully some service history with it a Yaris or 'Maybe' a Getz. (Girls cars LOL!)

Get a CJ lancer, You wont need parts very often as they are bullet proof, they have a timing chain not a belt, the service interval is 12mths/15K kms, they have sold heaps of them so plenty of used parts as well and it has a 2 litre or 2.4 litre engine option and they are a bigger safer car in an accident than the others. You might also be able to pick up one with some of its 5 year warranty left.

Out of that list... Toyota Yaris would be my pick.
In terms of long term reliability I'd pick Toyota, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen and then Hyundai in that order. |

100E Ford Prefect is the simplest car I have ever worked on, but who would want one?
Many moons ago I needed a replacement engine for one, The wrecker pointed to a pile of engines in the corner and said, "a dollar each mate, take your pick"

Ive also owned a couple of cj lancers and they are great reliable cars,wouldnt say they are easy to work on though,typical fwd cars,10 lb crammed into a 5 lb bag,engine bays are always tight.
Rwd cars especially straight 6 are easy to work on. I will also vote au falcon for cheap and easy to work on and reliable |
