Default Very cheap air filters?

How good can these be for under $2?

Apparently they meet all the standards... hmmm...I wonder what the standards are exactly. Part of me wants one, part of me is thinking... how can it be! >_<

If something seems to good to be true, it usually is.

Personally I will never compromise on fuel, oils and filters.

Very good point. I know what some of the filters cost the company I work for (who have a division that makes them in Asia) and these guys are below our factory costs for something equivalent - yet they're a reseller.

There's potential for a little bit of padding in the postage - they say $8.60, but if it costs them $6 post then the difference, added to that $1.52 would be close to the manufacturing cost.

The cost can also be very cheap if it's a common size, and they make thousands - like the A360 that went in all VN-VS Commodores, but not that cheap!

Another explanation is they could have picked up a "job lot" from a place closing down, or the spoils of an insurance write off (ie flood damaged goods where the packaging is ruined, but the insides are OK because they're plastic wrapped.

I got 24 Fram oil filters to suit a 304/308 about 15 years back from a guy who closed down his business and was flogging the remaining stock off cheap at swap meets. From memory it was $15/slab, or 2 for $25 - a slab was 12 filters. All brand new, in OEM packaging.
