Nah, they've just used number 1 as the photo. I'd say this is a guy who is on selling one yet to be built.

The fact it says never registered is the tip off. GTF-001 is registered to that numberplate.

I'm all for a quick investment but I find it a bit sad that it's at the expense of selling out the last ever GT and its history. All the punters who do end up buying one of these second owner GT-F's to keep them forever are the true car guys, and should have had the opportunity to pay retail.

Yep you hit the nail on the head there buggo.

It is really sad that some genuine lovers of the car missed out to speculators.

On the other hand though I guess that's part of life, the speculators took the risk sight unseen. They may still fail miserably and be stuck with a car they dont really love and end up selling it to a real enthusiast cheap

I agree there is nothing wrong with people wishing to make money from this kind of investment.
Though my thoughts have always been that Ford should have made this car available to all comers.
It’s sold 500, maybe if the numbers weren’t restricted it would have sold 600, 700 or more.
What’s important is those who want this car should have been allowed to order and buy it at any time and bugger the speculators and collectability.
Not a first in best dress situation and bugger the enthusiasts and GT lovers.

Yeah, many had a go at the dealers asking more than retail. Good on the Ford dealers that charged over the odds. This was always going to happen with GTF. And it will get worse once people start taking delivery of their cars. I really hope the dealer that sold this bloke the car finds out and resinds the contract.

Why?

The dealers charging over and about retail are no better.

Theres dealers saying they have 1 or 2 left now but 150k...

Next thing we will be told is XR8 is collectable because we only have a certain amount of gearboxes left, then they will be a 100 kay.

Dash, They are dealers, who are not obligated by any laws to sell at any price level. They live and die by consumer demand. They have the right to charge as they see fit. If they can get 150k, it is their prerogative. I have more of an issue if someone placed at deposit at retail with the sole intent of flogging it for more before it gets to them. If a customer takes delivery of the car and sells it the next day for more, good on them. but to advertise a vehicle before its even in their custody is just downright wrong. Part of the legalities in any new vehicle contract says a dealer has the right to cancel the contract at their discretion on the proviso all deposits are refunded to the customer. I hope that guy gets caught out and the deal reversed.

Only way I would pay over the odds is if I'd just won multi millions on Lotto, it would be like sharing your win with them. Then and only then I'm afraid.

What is the likelihood that this is a dealer as they are advertising it as brand new?

fair point. You could be right but there again, if they were the dealer, they would not need to advertise. We get around a dozen calls each day about GT-F

Perception, Supply and Demand V's Reality

Give it a few years, another financial crisis (that's a given), fuel crisis, Mustang ... take your pick

You'll find good low mileage GT-F's for a sweet price, it's what I would do.

Reminds me of concert tickets, when they sell out in one minute and then tickets are immediately available on eBay for 5 times face value. Makes the blood boil, these faceless opportunists taking advantage of the true fans. But on the other hand, why weren't the true fans at the front of the queue?

What you will find is that some of these grubs have over committed themselves but rather than admit it and back out of the car completely they are looking for a quick buck. They cant really afford it. I read about a guy over heard in a bank getting agro because they would not lend him the money and was kindly explaining they would have it back straight once he sells the car. There will also be the guys that have no way of actually paying for the car that are hoping someone will come along and pay for it for them before delivery. There WILL be GTFs available once they start to arrive at dealerships, but it will be first in best dressed and expect to see a premium attached. I would imagine dealers have back up buyers waiting already.

Yup this is more my point. Glad someone on this forum can read between the lines. Scalping is actually illegal in australia. In this instance, i have more respect for a concert scalper as he already paid for the ticket in full, taken delivery of the ticket.

Don't forget that these greasy speculators can easily get burned.

I remember back in 2007 when there were heaps of overpriced $100K plus Cobras advertised all over the place by disappointed speculators. No buyers.

At the same time, a Cobra sedan and a Cobra ute came up at auction presented for sale by the same speculator seller. Those near-zero km cars sold that day at their real market value of mid to high $50K's.

Speculation does not always work!!

It's pretty much the same as short selling shares and commodities on the stock market.

If it's acceptable on the stock market, why not on the car market?

Like anything in this world, if you don't like the price move on. It will be a very limted selling market so they will get the message when hardly anyone touches it.

3 crowns @ $6,000 each for a total of $18,000 was the quote I received from a Dentist in Ryde, Sydney.
Another Dentist in the same area did the work for me for $2,300 total.

His point was to express confusion at you saying the private seller shouldn't be able to do what the dealers are simultaneously doing

Is if fair to say both the dealer and the private seller bought a commodity from a third party and are now looking to sell it for far more than rrp, cashing in on demand?

Difference is the dealer has a legal agreement to act on behalf of the factory in retailing vehicles. Head office SELLS to Dealer, dealer SELLS to public. Not factory sells to dealer and customer sells the car before dealer pays the factory for it. There is a fair issue with this. If you cant see this being an issue, lets just get rid of consumer affairs right now and save the taxpayer millions.
