Default DPF confusion LV Focus

Hey guys just thought I'd update everyone over the DPF confusion about the LV TDCI Focus, a while back there was a lot of confusion about if our cars actually had DPFs or not, and on my particular LV TDCI, thats a no:

Thats a cat, there is no DPF in the system.

Ford dealerships were telling me yes, it does have a DPF, no it doesn't have a DPF etc.

It goes from the turbo, with a 90 degree bend to the cat, then to some thin mesh looking thing which I think is a resonator, from the DPFs I've seen they're usually this big thing with tubes and sensors coming out of it.

No DPF light on the dash and she blows soot like a mad C

Mesh may be a flexible joint.

really interesting because Ford say later LT(2008) and onwards have a DPF.
You can see this if you look up the lubrication charts for they recommend different oils when you have a DPF

Ditto on the smoke, especially at night in the headlights of the cars behind me when I take off.

I am using Penrite HPR5 5W40 oil as it is the Ford WWS-M2C913-B spec oil stated in the service manual. It has "not suitable for engines fitted with DPF's" or something like that on the label so I take it that I don't have one.

Pity because it's a bit embarrassing some times.

I think its fantastic, because DPFs cause some serious problems which can be very expensive if they aren't regularly driven on long highway stints to clear them out.

Cars with a DPF will have a different intake going into the engine, the DPF equipped cars have two pipes going into a Y join, the non DPF cars (like mine) just have a single big pipe going into the intake on the engine (on the LV/MK2.5 anyway).
