Hi, the other day, after jump starting my 2006 CL Focus I noticed that my LCD display (odo, trip meter, temp etc.) went blank.
I've jump started the car before without troubles, does anyone have any idea what's gone wrong? My mechanic doesn't. Could I have fried a fuse somewhere? It's worrying me. Cheers |

Fairly sure the ECU in most modern cars don't like being jumped started...
maybe you got lucky the first couple of times but this time I'm not so sure... |

oh no. Are they expensive? I've never heard of this new no jumpstart rule. I see cars being jumpstarted everywhere.

maybe older cars are still being jump started, but you'll find as time goes on and as cars become more reliant on computers this will probably becomes less common Quote:
I'm fairly sure the owners manual for our Focus doesn't have a section on jump starting and if it does it says specifically NOT to - I'll check tomorrow unless someone else has their's handy. Surprised the US focus is ok with it... |

Disconnect the battery for a little while and reconnect it.

I'll have to find an auto electrician. How long should I disconnect the battery for - overnight or short, like 10 min?
