Default What motor would you use?

Ok if you had a car and you could spend 20k on engine alone what would you put in it? Say if the car was a xb hardtop?

No, he is in Melbourne, use to be head of Ford AUS Motorsports, trained on the F1 RepcoBrabham, had a Phase4 as a company car, engineered lots road registered daily drive 200MPH turbocharged V8 Ford's

Full of story and FoA history, easily the best in his field.

If i was doing a high budget Ford V8, he would be the one!

Big block. A460 or eliminator block, 632cu (4.75 crank) profiler heads, big single carb, solid roller with around 840 lift = 1100 plus hp N/A. Plus single stage nos (300 shot). Oh and some big tyres

Heres something like that:

I'd get one of those Wiseco modded 5.8/351 Coyote short blocks, set it up for a nasty n/a application with GT (Supercar) heads and FR500 intake

In an XB it's hard to go past a clevo. Have a look at the pavtek website. $13k buys you 600hp, so $20k just on the engine might get you into there 728HP Dart block combo.
http://www.pavtek.com.au/index.php?o...nes&Itemid=143
Your budget for your engine is huge, but it's not the only thing you need to worry about. Gearbox, tailsharft and diff could soak up to $10k to handle the power, plus fuel system, ignition system and brakes.
It snow balls and adds up realy quickly.

Haha yeah if I look at that clevor one more time it will be for the 100th time! Its sooooo pretty! Thats one of the lead contenders if I were to get a crate! Yeah the rest of the car is basically planned already that was the easy part! just not so much the engine/gearbox combo ie if a modular the STD auto seems to be the pick, if a clevo the tremec looks the goods cause I don't like autos. Yeah I know they're faster at the track but this is a 90% street car.

Come on! If you want to take on turbo this supercharge that go Big block. Example: XA 600cu, 9.4:1 comp with a tad over 900hp on pump gas im led to believe.

Very nice looking engine. Big block all the way in your coupe. Heres one for $11k. Does 5.96 on the eighth in a 3417lbs car. Imagine that with a shot of gas.
But it is safer buying in australia, but this part of your project is the best! Working out what you want. But dont get a crate engine, get your motor custom built local. But its fun looking at whats around thats for sure. Good luck mate will be watching what you do.

1 - if its an original K copde car, a cranky Clevo is the go.

2. - If not a Big cube 500+ big block crate motor. 1 to 1.5 hp per cube, easy cruising lots of fun

For $20,000 I would get:

- New Coyote Aluminator crate motor ready for supercharging...$7,500
- Billet 8/71 TBS supercharger with teflon strips + belt, blower gaurd etc.. Under $5,000
- Enderle Big n Ugly 5 9/16th injector hat... $2,500
- Make my own custom alluminium high rise blower manifold... $1000 if that
- Custom parts, fuel system and tune would take up the rest of the money.

I have a 500hp clevo that was a manual with a ceramic clutch and found it to be real pig to drive as a street car, it didn't like to lump around 2000-2500rpm. When replaced with a built c4 with full manual and 4500 stall, it transformed it into somthing you wanted to drive.
