Default rear bumper mounting brackets

Hi guys,
I need to replace two mounting brackets on the rear bumper of my au1. These are the steel brackets that are attached to the plastic cover with large pop rivets, the bumper is then attached the car frame. If anyone has done this before I would appreciate any tips on how to remove the pop rivets holding the old brackets on etc.

Thanks

try and punch the pin (in the centre of the rivet) through the centre of the aluminium part first.
once that is done,
then you just need to drill through the aluminium part.
and you are ready for the next one

The way to do it is to drill thru the top of the rivet with a drill the same size of the rivet hole. In this case 1/4 inch.

You drill until the head comes adrift. When it does, the bar will be seperated from the bracket. Then the remainder of the rivet will be able to be pushed out.

Don't grind, you won't be able to punch the rivet out.

This is how it is done.

Have fun.
