Default Rep power, points, smilies ???

Quick question or 2.. On my user control panel I have 192 rep points and 4 smilies. But on each of my posts on the side it shows as 2 smilies and 6 rep power. Can someone please explain ?

Ill try and explain it with out confusing you (or myself) even more :
The 192 points you can see in your user cp is a combined total of points you have reciecved from other members (in your case 4), for example if you give reputation to someone they will recieve 6 rep points (thats what your rep power stands for) and if vztrt gives reputation to someone they will recieve 62 rep points.

I think that makes sence

In actual fact for 192 points you should have 2 yellow smilies which is what I see you have now. If you show 4 internally then there is a problem and you might need to clear your cache.

Yellow smilies conform to the formula

x = integer (reputation / 100) + 1.

0-99 = 1, 100-199 = 2, 200-299 = 3, 300 to 399 = 4, 400 to 499 = 5.

The maximum number of yellow is 5.

Green smilies conform to the formula

x = integer ((reputation - 500) /200) + 1.

500-699 = 1, 700-899 = 2, 900-1099 = 3, 1100-1299 = 4, 1300-1499 = 5 etc.

So a person who has 5 yellow and 2 green would have a reputation of between 700 and 899.

Your "rep" value is the amount by which you can increase another member's reputation.

e.g. if a member's reputation is 192 and they have 2 smilies and you approve of their post and your "rep" is 20, then their reputation will increase to 212 and they will then have 3 smilies.

When the nasty mod disapproves of a post the reputation is decreased by half of the mod's "rep"

e.g. you are now 212 and a mod with a "rep" of 70 zaps you, you will decrease to 212 - (70/2) or 177 and you will be back to 2 smilies.

Does this make it a bit more clear?

I wondered how that all worked. My smilie list looks quite decorative with red and yellows. LOL

Should be a muliplier for actual useful technical input, rather than people getting a popularist vote for opinions.

A lot of my advice is via pms. How about a rep feedback for them too.

Rep feedback in PM's would be too hard for the moderators to keep an eye on as they are just that...Private messages.

Why?

You are helping one person compared to many others who would read an open reply.
