Default V8 Supercars Grand Finale - Oran Park December 6 & 7

The final round of the 2008 V8 Supercars season is being held at Sydney's Oran Park Circuit on December 6 & 7. This is also the last time Oran Park will host a V8 race as it will soon be redeveloped.

The club is organising a couple of mini-buses to travel down for the races - transport will be free of charge. One will travel down on Saturday 6th, staying overnight, while the other will (at this stage) be doing a day trip on the Sunday. However, if there is enough demand, both buses might do the overnight stay.

At the moment, we have a 12-seater bus very generously lent to us by the Kaleen Sports Club for the overnight stay, and a big thanks to then for their assistance! We will be staying at Panthers World of Entertainment, and a standard room will be approximately $140.

We need to get things (particularly accommodation) booked as soon as possible, so if you are interested in going please put your name on one of the lists below, including what type of room you require.

Please note: preference is given to FPV & XR Club of ACT members first - non-members are welcome to fill any further vacant spots

Deadline for accommodation bookings is the September club meeting - Thursday September 4th.

Travel down Saturday and stay overnight:
1) Richard & Nicole - double room
2)
3)
4)
5)
6)

Sunday day trip only:
1)
2)
3)
4)

Time is running out to get your bookings in - we need to give definite accommodation numbers to the hotel within the next few weeks and if you miss out it will be up to you to organise your own!

Hi All,

If you can count Dianne and myself in. 1 double room will be fine for us.

Cheers Rosie.

Please note that payment for this trip is due at the club meeting, this Thursday October 2nd.

There is no Sunday day trip - everyone will be heading down on the Saturday and staying overnight. Cost is $140 per room for accommodation and $20 per person to cover transport (cost of bus hire + fuel). Note that entry tickets to the races are YOUR responsibility - I would recommend you book them soon as this promises to be a very popular event.

The club has committed to accommodation and transport for this trip so it is expected that everyone who has their name on the attendance list will make their payment this week.

Just updating the list to reflect that Stacey has pulled out. I was thinking about sharing a room but noting Glenn is the only other person going solo I think I'll have my own room. I'm not going to get a lot of sleep without having to listen to Glenn snore.

And here is the schedule for the weekend. Looking at Saturday's events, I wouldn't think we need to be at the track any earlier than 0900. Therefore, a 0600 departure from Canberra should give us plenty of time (once I work out how to rig the speed limiter on the buses).

Not long now, people!

We have 2 x 12-seater mini-buses booked for the trip. These buses will be leaving the Shell EPIC servo in Watson at 6.00am on Saturday morning. That should get us up to Oran Park in time to secure a good viewing position.

If you are running late on the day please give me a call to let me know - 0414 945 666.

Correction Correction Correction

Buses will now be departing from the Yowani Country Club carpark, NOT the Shell EPIC.

Departure time is still 6.00am sharp.

Weather bureau says there's the chance of a shower on Sunday (though still temp in high 20's) so be prepared.

Funny man.

We'll we're all back now. Was a GREAT weekend no doubt. Some of us worse for wear. I've got a metric of pics to go through, maybe will get some up before I go, if not it'll be a few weeks out.

Thanks to...
ChrisH for organising
Glenn, Marty, ChrisH, and Karen for driving our drunk asses around.
Richard for being a top sport. Richard and Nic for going out to refresh supplies Sunday morn.
Everyone else for coming along and having a good time.

Oh and 'Ben' for keeping Dane company Saturday night.

So next year @ Homebush ?

What a GREAT weekend!

Huge thanks go to the Kaleen Sports Club for the use of their van, as well as to Glenn, Marty, Chris and Karen for taking on driving duties.

Chris H, please thank Jo from all of us for arranging the accommodation - it was excellent, though some of us were actually in our rooms much less than others, hey Dane?

And yes, we'll definitely look at doing this for the Homebush V8s next year!
