If the cars auto check the vac module isn't stuffed. I know quite a few people who have bought engines due to a $35 part being worn out. When worn you can suck the trans fluid into the manifold.

white smoke? not blue or black?

Not sure about rings then.

Any possibility its sucking in auto trans or brake fluid from a stuffed vacum modulator or booster?

Maybe the oil control rings are upside down? I've seen it on a car once - pulled the head off and the dishes in the pistons filled up with oil on the starter. Took ages to get the oil out of the exhaust, too. Glad it wasn't my car or me doing the work.

It sounds like its burning oil. Could be a case of the rings by the sounds of it.
