Is the dash light permanently out or is it just happening intermittently ? My dash display went out about 3 times during the year that I had the car, and it seemed completely random.
Each time it happened to me, I simply parked up, turned the lights off, killed the engine and restarted again – Don't ask me to explain the logic, but it fixed it every time. Well, it isn’t really fixing the problem, but it would appear that it is more beneficial than taking it to Ford! You may also experience problems with the dash lights flickering. I simply dimmed the display to about 75% brightness and the problem was gone for good. Anyway, best of luck getting it sorted.

yeh the ST170 have electroluminescent guages that the normal foci dont. Mine do the same thing every so often, where the needles r lit but the rest is dark. I always fixed it by turning the lights off and back on.
It doesnt happen very often for me but if its happening alot ide ask for a new cluster. I dont think is the wiring cause mine r fine 99%of the time but still do it at random.

I'd suggest you check on ffoc.co.uk, but the buggers charge to be a member now. If it's a common ST170 problem though, they're likely to know
