A rather cheap part offered in the US is a 180 or 160 degree thermostat. (about $15)
Theory is,the replacement thermostat keeps the engine cooler, with all the supposed benefits of a cooler engine. Two questions. Is this valid or hokum? What temperature thermostat do we run in Australia? (on an LR Focus) Anyone know?

Running your engine colder can result in increased engine wear!! It's probably supposed to fool the ECU into injecting more fuel, but won't necessarily give you more power and isn't a good idea IMHO.

Is it for sale on Ebay anywhere?
That usually answers the question.
