Purchasing new phone .. need help

Hi guys,

I'm sick of my current V3 phone, it's crap.

I'm now after something with a good camera built into it, preferebly something 2MP or soemthing. I like taking pics on my phone and the V3 just isn't capable of producing a good photo.

I'm also looking for a phone with mp3 compatability, something with 64MB or something is fine, So i can store more than 40 messages at a time as well as some vids, music and photos.

I have had a look through the nokia and motorola sites but find it hard finding specs for each phone as you have to check through everyone of them individually. Annoying.

So if anyone has any phones worthy of a mention it would be great.
I'm also not looking to spend any more than $300 on it.

i thought the Sony W810i i think its called was an alright loking phone. But im not too good with what too look for when buying a new phone.

Try a V3i (1.3mp) or V3X (2mp) - Both motorola's so you wont need to re-learn the interface..

if your able to pick up a se w800i for cheap then go for that, comes with a 512mb stick, good mp3 player and pretty good camera as well

Just got a V3x this weekend. Quite a good camera 2 mp. Plus a lot of 3G features. Working through the interface bit by bit.

Samsung E730. Around $300 on Ebay, Does everything you want plus more, I've been using mine for over a year and a bit now, not 1 drama at all. I tend to keep away from Nokia or Moto.

nokia is the only brand to work properly...be sturdy enough and also water proof even in the high end models.. anyways lets say i love my 6230 so much i recommend it

Have a good look at the Sony Ericsson K750i, , , same specs as the W800 and you will get one on ebay for a good price...

and a K750i for $320 in perfect condition.
or a samsung D600 for $350

The choice is out of these three phones now.

hey mate, i reccomend the nokia N70 i picked it up as a good deal from vodafone for $270, it came with headphones, a 512mb card and a 2mp camera with flash, i just upgraded from a Sony ericson k750i and find it easy to use and greaat for mp3 capabilities

i am on a optus plan so a vodofone phone will do me no good unfortunately. unless its not loacked to the brand. im not to phone savvy. sorry :P

I have a Motorola V3x and it's a great phone .As has been posted before 2 mp camera takes good shots and plenty of 3G goodies the best phone iI hace had and I've had plenty over the years.

You can get a V3x for $20 per month including $15 call and 50 free text per month over 24 months from Telstra

You can also get it from Crazy Johns who throw in a free phone with the package

Now 24 x $20 = $480 which is about what the phone costs new outright but you get $15 calls and 50 free text.....

Now here is the option pay the $20 montlhy but dont use that sim, use the sim you already have.

Then its like paying $20 per month finance for the phone.

V3x comes with 64mb card, 2meg camera, has a slider zoom for close up pictures, video calling

Not locked into Telstra and you can do free downloads and surfing net for first 2 months on the telstra sim

Nokia 6230i, 6280 and N70 are great phones but you will wreck the screen when the phones in your pocket, V3x flips closed...........

Definetely the Samsung D600 mate. I'm loving my D500 at the moment. I also find the build quality of the Sony's rather lacking.

For all those who have a V3x good luck...I do know that these phones r have softwear problems. Telstra is be flooded with them everyday.

V3x's are nothing but trouble, flimsy, heard lots of reports about breakages and poor software.

K750i was a top top phone, BUT, if u use it a lot be prepared to have a new joystick put in every few months ($50). i used to go through 1 every couple of months. Good concept, but the phone is so reliant on that joystick, and gets used to death for eveything that they wear out and play up all the time.

6230i is a tough phone, replacable covers which is handy if u are rouh with them, works very well, a bit plain jane but wont let you down.

Just got an N70. More features and functions than the average punter will ever need. Great phone! Takes awesome photos, and the best video i've seen on a camera phone. We took video of half a lap at phillip island and it came up well. You can direct print by plugging it into your printer with the usb cable, flash on the camera, and a bucketload of features most people will probably never even use! Its 3g, huge screen, and albeit a bit tricky to use at first relatively easy to get the hang of.

i had a SE k700 - it was crap, i now have a SE W800 - it's good for mp3's but other than that is also crap. Fantastic interface, features, and design, but the software has constantly been horrid - makes them lock up, take photo's for no reason, even had the w800 call up my sister while the phone was in my pocket with the keylock on.. every time they upgraded the software it got worse..

Samsung d700 is good, new model of it out now i think.. bit girly though. Nokia's are always going to be the best bet though in my opinion. Price, features, and they look nice.

the best phones all with 2 mega pixel would be
nokia 6280 - i owe one... very nice phone had some software problems but no big deal camera is fantastic....

samsung D600 Magic very nice phone
sony erricsson W900i ! i want one ! or wait u can wait patiently for the W950i even better

well the best thing would be to go on cap plans realy
atm best cap plans on offer would be with 3 - due to the fact that its call rates are 30 cents per 30 sec where as with optus and telstra i know its 35 cents
downfall would be you have to pay for the phone on top of your cap, for some its still cheaper for others it might prove costly
Telstra would be the go atm reason being top phones such as the v3x you can pick up for $0 on the $49 cap and the Nokia N70 on $79 cap.
Also optus is offering the Nokia 6280 on the $35 plan ** Not Cap plan **
It realy comes down to what you need the phone for and how much you spend and or willing to spend.
