Default AU brake upgrade

Finally I got to take my old mans AU V8 Fairmont wagon for a spin after having his new brakes fitted. He has had the full front and rear calipers and rotors off an AU3 TE50 fitted to his wags. The stopping power of these things makes the original stoppers feel rather pathetic IMO.

Well worth the upgrade, especially since he's heading off around "the block" next week with his caravan in tow for 4 months. I know that the stopping power of these will graetly aid in pulling the van up safer also.

Excellent upgrade!!!

Are they 4-pot calipers?

Sounds nice.

The whole brake package cost him a big, fat zero :
The fitting of them 'cos it's an AU1 involved new drop spindles, lower control arms and swaybar. He had a full service, tune, trans service at the same time so it still wasn't cheap, but he saved heaps by gettin' the brake for nought!!!!

I don't think they are 4 pots. I think they are just the premium 2 pot AU package that is optional on XR's, stock on the TE.

BTW, the TE he got them off now has the full Brembo setup!!!!!! (it's my brothers car)

Yep, they are 2 pots, but have the bigger rotors in the front than standard. Nice pick up. Second hand from FTG auto salvage is $1250 for the fronts.

Not sure about the cost of the Brembo's.
The car was actually my brother-in-laws and he upgraded to the Brembo's and kept the original brakes. When he sold the car to my brother I grabbed the old gear for the old mans car from him.

I reckon he didn't get any change from ~$5500......hehe.

Don't know Lotus.
The BOG (see sponsor on the top) did all the work, maybe give them a call and they can answer any questions about the fitting of this package. I do know that they are a bolt-on fit to AU2 & 3 but require the AU2 front end bits if you are going to do this to an AU1 like my old mans.

Not sure but have spoken to someone that fitted premium brakes off a T series3 to a Ser 2 AU and had a bracket attached to the caliper and then bolted onto the stub. This makes me think that the premium brakes for all Au's and T series are all the same, does not matter if caliper is fitted at the front or rear of the wheel and only difference is this bracket to put the calipers at the front.
