Agreed, f6 for the win. Love the SSVR as a rapid comfortable crusier, it does it so well.

G'day...Just on great engines...just on Barra Turbo with Nizpro.....I already posted this on another thread but this says it all really...WOW....1223 hp that they had to de-tune to make the 'monster' more manageable. Bloody hell...Whew...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bEe-rXaZ_w............. Cheers Rod...

although there won't be a Ford built car to carry the legacy. the Mustang will carry the flag high for the Ford's. i saw a turbo and a blown one running 9.3 and 10.1 respectatively at Sydney Dragway on Wednesday, they seemed to do it quite easily.

G'day.. I read in a recent copy of a motor mag that it'll be 2021 /22 before a direct factory RHD rival from GM will come for the Mustang...the Camaro..
That's an eternity for the Holden crew...The alternative for the diehards is to spend $44,000 to convert an imported one..All up it would set you back about the same as a GTSR W1..around $170 K or so I think...
When they do arrive from the States in a few years time I wonder will either the GT 350 R or the GT 500 Stangs be available here...Will be interesting...
Looks like the Mustang will have the affordable Sports Coupe market cornered for a little while yet unless Dodge or someone join in soonish ..

Here's a bit in Wheels recently about the same thing https://www.wheelsmag.com.au/news/17...-for-australia

After Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore days the ability to have a big power family accomodating car that serves as the performance alternative are forever gone
unless you want to pay big bikkies for a Merc , BMW , Audi etc..

Unless you want a SUV style your Ford choices are Mustang for grunt but bugger all room for more than two people , Mondeo with plenty of room but bugger all real grunt. Maybe the Ford car with the Blue Oval that covers both categories the closest will be the Focus RS .Ironic that Falcon did both tasks pretty well as we might say.
.....Cheers Rod..

G'day ....Remember Head Coach Paul Roos's famous words in 2005 when Sydney won the AFL Premiership after 72 years wait.
He said..." You've waited 72 years for this , Well HERE IT IS " as he held up the Cup.
Try this , "You've waited 56 years for this , WELL HERE THEY ARE "

This is probably one of the greatest collection of all the iliterations of the mighty Ford Falcon GT's. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiC04miJ23Q&t=22s
Regardless of whether some might not regard an individual GT model as the greatest ever performance car , I think we'd all agree that collectively the GT Falcon is the greatest ever group of Australian performance cars..
I love this celebratory vid of "The Falcon GT "
Cheers Rod.

Was lucky enough to drive the banked track at the You Yangs in April 2000 for the 75th anniversary celebration of FoA.
Took my old XE ESP to the event and was privileged to get out on the track. We were warned to stay on the lower half of the bank as low speed in the top half would see you slide down.....lol.
Lots of us stayed back and let traffic ahead move on and then did some "testing" of our own .... was awesome.

I'd pay to take my BFGT for a cruise around that track for the memory.....

Edit

Found an old photo mug of the picture of the day. Was a gift from a friend. Can't find the actual photo anymore so the cup is my only memory now. Shows the angle I was driving on. Such awesome FORD memories. Shedding a tear now....

G'day , Great little vid, enjoyed watching it. . All academic now seeing they're all spoken for anyway but if I was a Holden person I wouldn't be too disappointed to have a GTS and a spare coin in my pocket. The Gen F VF GTS is a pretty good jigger anyway by all accounts even though I've not had the pleasure of a ride in one.
Same thing with the very last special build Falcons . A V8 S/C or Turbo 6 Sprint would be amazing to own but a really nice 'standard' FGX XR8 or XR6T would be pretty great to have in the shed too . The XR8 came loaded with pretty much FG GT stuff for a reasonable price. This is from very late 2014 and over a year before the Sprints http://www.drive.com.au/new-car-revi...127-3larj.html.

The GTSR W1 certainly looks the goods and has plenty of special stuff but in regard to the 'greatest ever' it'd need to do some serious proving for a while yet. In Holdens alone there are some pretty serious contenders and with the runs on the board. We'll see what time brings on that though.
Cheers Rod.

W1 going straight to auction:

“They received the car on Tuesday through their dealership. We [Auctioneers] received it the day after. “All the delivery plastics are on the car, they’ll stay on there for the new owner.”

Lofts estimates that the car will sell for $280,000 to $320,000, landing the lucky owner a $100,000 profit in just over a week.

“I think the high $200,000-range is fair and reasonable,” Lofts says. "

C,mon seriously , it's a hyped up commodore. Nothing more, if anyone paid that much for it, they either have way too much money or their really dumb. You could get a 2014 Bentley for that or a an AMG Mecrcedes V8 coupe, where's the value in the commodore, just because it's the last one. Rediculous, the commodore is gone because it couldn't compete with other car makes of superior design & technology & also value for money. This is an absolute joke. I don't want to offend anyone, but c'mon guys, ya gotta see the truth here, it's a media campaign for HSV to make some extra cash before their swansong. cheers

Had the brochure for this on my wall in year 12...got it from the Royal Ad show, which is the only time I have ever seen one in the flesh - it was fully optioned including fax machine

Back in the day where a walk-through of the motoring pavilion was one of the highlights (it was the motoring pavilion, the dogs, and the precision driving team).
