Hi All,
I have a 2012 Fiesta Zetec, and have lost the spare key fob/remote unit. Just wondering if anyone knows how much I can get a replacement for. I heard that it is very expensive. Is there a way to shop around/negotiate on an item like this? Thanks. |

You may be able to get a blank key fob on eBay.
Then you need to find a locksmith who has a machine that can flash the chip in the unit with your code, which they should be able to get off your original. Not every locksmith can do it. But it can be done. I did mine for about $120 all up. But the guy I bought the blank off got kicked from eBay. |

The remote is the key.
So yes remote/key. The chip is the thing. You must get one with a chip. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FORD-REMO...item33a4041578 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FORD-REMO...item4ae3664eea The second one looks like a good buy. I note he says "programming instructions can be supplied" Please note that will only open doors. The chip transponder must be coded. |

2nd one may not be suitable though. It says Fiesta 09-10. My car is a Fiesta 12. Do you know of any reliable locksmiths in Melbourne that will be able to do the cutting and programming? |

Ring your local Ford dealer for a dealer price. Ring/visit Mister Minnit at the local shopping centre for lower price if they can code a fob. All you can do is try and negotiate, you'll find out pretty quickly whether they will or not!
