Default Wheel width advice needed (LS)

Hi all,
New to the forum, ive got a 2005 LS zetec hatch and i am looking at upgrading the rims. Just wondering what sort of width i can go out to. Im currently looking at some 18x8.5s with a 40 offset. Is anyone running a similar setup?

18 x 8 is OK, I'm not 100% on 18 x 8.5.
Your offset is OK though - recommended between 38 and 52 for the Focus if I recall correctly.

Talking about wheels does anyone know the size of 18" MA Mondeo wheels as I'm keen on a set when my current tyres wear out.

XR5s have their turning circle limited compared to a normal focus, you might get rubbing with full lock

do you reckon ill be right with 8.5's then? its more of a poke issue than rubbing issue. will they poke out of the wheel well?

XR5s have 8" width WITH the steering limiter

So 8.5" without the steering rack limiter on your LS Zetec may cause a rubbing issue.

I wouldn't purchase these wheels without a trial fitment

Also, just went into a wheels shop, and the guy said id fit 8.75's on without scrubbing. I dont think hes right, but id be curious if they could fit them under, especially when lowered.

I thought they limited the turning circle on the performance models with the wider wheels.
