Well 2 weeks ago I bought a 2009 Mondeo Titanium TDCI and I have to say " What a car". It is the nicest car I have driven in a long time, the level of equipment in the car is great! What I don't understand is why these cars are so cheap to buy second hand! Just about to put the tow package on to see how well she pulls, going by the comments on this site I will have no worries! If there are any suggestions about any bits that would go well on the car let me know! Look forward to reading the different threads and any comments!

i also recently joined and picked up my 2012 titanium TDCI yesterday.
i dont know much about cars but dont understand why these cars arent pushed harder in the aussie market. |

Mondeo supply from Europe has been an issue since this series (MA-MC) was introduced in 2007. Unfortunately, Oz is a tiny market hardly worth metnioning on the global scale, coupled with exchange rate issues (bad>good>now going bad), competition with Falcon local product as being in the same size class,.........and more that has been discussed previously.
Mondeo is vastly underrated. Was Top Gear "Car of the Year" in 2007 IIRC, alongside Subaru Legacy/Liberty, |

Fitted the tow bar to the car, had Ford do it and they seem to have done a nice job! Now almost time to give it a try out and put the caravan on to see how well she pulls! We had a Mitsubishi Outlander before and it was very expensive to tow the van. Did a trip down south and back and averaged about 25 - 30 L/100. Fingers crossed that the Mondeo does not cost that much to run!!!

Hi All,
Similar to Sparkyman I picked up my Mondeo a couple of weeks ago and am absolutely thrilled with it! I'm a self-confessed nerd so the litany of features appeals to me greatly. Will be taking it for a long drive (1400km) over the long weekend, so will be interesting to see what economy I can squeeze out of it!  I am starting to see the pitfalls of a metallic black car though. Other than being damn hard to keep clean, to many on the road I seem to be "invisible". I have had more people pull out in front of me in the last few weeks than I did in my old bright blue Pulsar.

Sparkyman, not sure about Caravans but the tdci pulls trailers like they aren't there.
Lumus, Should have gone the Colorado Red, people turn to look at it. :-P (a bit hard to come by in the 2nd hand market though)

if concerned about pulling power, just google Mondeo + towing....and be informed.
Saw some pics a while ago from europe.....impressive. |

Question re: the tow packs. Do they operate the electric brakes on a caravan if they are equipped with them? I'm curious as my partner's parents have a caravan with electric brakes, and his Jeep needed a separate system fitted in order to use them.

Just the petrol one. Now I just want them to hurry up & deliver it so I can play with my new toy! Never had a new car before so it will be an experience
 Current drive is a 1997 VS SS which I've had for 14yrs, so learning all the tech should be fun, frustrating or a bit of both

well done on your toy..the petro zetecl ecoboost are a great car with tones of power with about half the fuel the ss would use .. it is always a joyful day when someone has seen the light and drives a ford...ENJOY.

Well I took the car and the caravan out for the weekend and with a head wind and the hills the car did 15 L/100 not bad compared to the last car!
Does anybody have picture of the load levelers that come with the 1600Kg tow bar? Thanks |

Any chance of a photo? I have a set of after market ones but the piece that bolts on under the tow ball causes the reverse censors to go off but they are ok with the standard tow ball in place! I didn't buy the load leveler because of the set that I have but maybe I will need to buy them after all !
 Doesn't seem right to me! |

They are still in the box from new the only time I really tow is to take the bike to Phillip Island trackdays. I'll pull them out tomorrow and take a pic, always wondered what they look like lol they are heavy enough I know that.

Here you go first time out of the box. I don't have an electric brake controller I normally only have 2 motorbikes on the trailer so hardly any weight. Its a company car so they supplied the whole kit when I first got it.

Thanks for the photos! A bit different to mine! The piece that bolts under the tow ball looks a bit smaller in size but not much, so I may have to take the car back to ford and see if they can stop the censors going off when I have it on but not attached to the van!
