Default Pressure Flap things?

Provocative title?

Ok so it seems my beloved AU is getting a couple of niggles now that age is catching up, im sure me lowering it hasnt helped the cause either.

Unrelated to the lowering, has anyone had issues with the pressure flap things (thats my technical term) making a "loose" noise when you close the doors? It was just happening when I shut the rears now it seems to happen with the fronts aswell.

I dont know their real name, but I assume somewhere in the boot, or maybe behind the rear bar the vents that allow pressure out of the cabin when you close the doors are worn or something? It makes a plastic type pop sound everytime now and its starting to get irritating.

1. Does anyone know the exact location of them?
2. Am I even on the right track
3. Is it an easy fix?
4. Anyone else dealt with it effectively?

I can live with it but if its an easy fix then ill give it a crack.

Cheers guys, still loving the AU. Gave it a wash today after about two months and the lines still get me.

It's just a black plastic "tower" with a plastic flap on it, as you said, to release pressure when you close a door.

It's held in place with those black plastic push-in clip doo-dads and the whole thing (on sedans) is hidden behind the boot carpet/side cover on the passenger side, just behind the fuel filler flap.

Takes about 30 seconds to get at it, but it's such a simple device it can't really 'go wrong' if you know what I mean.

just get at it and snap it off. I accidentally did that to mine, and it has made no noticeable difference, so i'd imagine snapping it off would fix your rattle. particularly if it has partially broken and the rattling is it vibrating on the broken edges.

Cheers guys ill have a look.

I dont know whats going on in the rear, I have a rattle but its almost like bushes are something. At the last service they said nothing was wrong, but the noise is driving me mental. It seems to be only over smaller sharper bumps, big bumps are fine.

Front ball joints where done less than 10,000 ago so I am not getting that mistaken (I know the difference between front and rear noises aswell.LOL)
