Default Biltong

Ok guys just wondering if there is any biltong makers amongst us. Ive been thinking about buying a kit to make my own, i love the stuff. Any ideas on where to get a reasonably priced biltong maker/setup?

If you have any South African friends, ask them. I am a Biltong and jerky obsessive, and used to make jerky at work - three day process from start to finish, begin with 20kg of beef, end up with about 2kg of finished product.
Biltong can also be purchased in bulk if you can't be arsed making it yourself - it takes longer than jerky, as the topside strips are thicker and take longer to dry.
Springbok Foods sell a couple of varieties in bulk here in Brisbane, not sure where you are located, but I'd also just Google for some recipes/methods.
Good luck!

I bought Jack a food dehydrator from a Health Food store for this exact reason.

You really don't need anything fancy though. Making something as simple as the ones on this webpage do the trick.

http://spw.customer.netspace.net.au/myobm.htm

Or if you want to purchase a specifically built biltong maker

http://www.bbqgurus.com.au/page/Biltong-Maker

As for recipes...it is all about making sure you salt the meat properly and add the right spice!

We follow this recipe but add chili flakes, aniseed and some paprika.

http://www.bestrecipes.com.au/recipe/Biltong-L6139.html

My boys love it.

This stuff sounds like my kind of snack, where can I buy it in Adelaide? I don't think I can make it at home, little bit too finicky with the parentals floating around.

Jims Jerky have a go at this Naish, you can buy online so you can get some. Get the Peri Peri flavoured biltong, tastes awesome.
