Default Airbag Warning

The airbag warning light has been intermittently going off for a couple of weeks now and the guy who services my car told me I had to take it to Ford for them to look at. I have taken it to them and they have hooked up to the computer and advised the airbag monitor sensor needs replacing at the lovely price of $790.00 installed! ontop of the $132.00 I have already paid for them to tell me this!

Question, is it worth getting replaced? Ford told me it means the airbag will not go off. Is it possible to buy the part and get someone other than Ford to replace?

Any feedback would be appreciated

Try the horn while the light is flashing at you.
If it works then I would agree it is the airbag system
If it doesn't work then it is the clock spring.

Cheers
