Default Tow Ball Knock

For those that have factory tow set ups, do you find it a bit noisey ?

Although you know its pretty solid and very unlikely to let go.
Sometimes the knocks and rattles from the tow bar are a bit concerning for me when ive got the trailer on the back.
Im half considering getting an after market one to replace it!

I take it you have the heavy duty kit with the removable tongue. I took mine to a towbar joint and they fitted it with a bolt in the bottom corner to stop the play. This was a feature of later release HR tow packs to eliminate the knocking.

Yeah do what he said, drill a hole in the bottom, weld a nut to the whole, and screw a bolt in toght. This holds the bar so it doesn't rattle. Most of the removable tow bars have them these days.

I have the similar rattle clunks on my Territory with the HR heavy duty bar as well. I have the bolt in the bottom corner .. and I tighten it on a regular basis ... it still returns though ... I guess it's a design flaw on HR's part.

The bold in the CORNER is useless .. on my HR 2300kg bar I had to drill it out and retap it with a much bigger bolt. Go the options mentioned about - drill a hole in the BOTTOM of the bar and weld a bolt to it. The 2100kg factory Holdfen towbar on my SV8 has this and has never knocked once ..

Thanks for the replys guys

I'll look at getting a hole drilled through the bottom and go the welded nut.
