Default first problem in the au

my first problem in my xr8 has popped up.

when stopping, put foot down on the clutch. the revs search up and down a couple of times before they settle. sometimes it gets bad enough and the car stalls. only does it sometimes, and it still does it if i put the factory tune back on.

does anyone know the problem?

cheers shane.

Mine does that aswell. Not so bad anymore though. Have cleaned the throttle body, ISC valve and new air filter which seemed to have helped it a bit I think.

How do you clean the throttle body in these XR8's. There is a sticker on it saying not to clean because of a protective coating but I don't know how much if any attention I should pay to that.

That must be a 220 thing cos the 200's dont have it. T3's do, I wonder what the coating is and what it does?

Maybe this question should be asked in the T-series section, I'm sure that they would know.

Edit: btw don't you think it's time to change your avatar? :nutsycuck

It's a coating like Teflon or such that keeps the internal surfaces of the TB smooth, thus allowing good air flow dynamics etc.

if its hunting at idle, its more then likely the o2 sensor. have you changed it since youve had it? how many ks? also just check that the leads, plugs and air filter are all ok/clean and that the fuel filter is clean (they need replacing every 3 yrs or 80,000ks) its amazing what a difference these things make to how well your car operates!!!

power steering pressure switches can cause slow/erratic return to idle if faulty, although i haven't seen this on an AU yet... Loss of KAM (Keep Alive Memory) can cause idle dips and stalling if it has been reset (battery disconnected) - to re-train idle, disconnect battery and reconnect (if you want to clean the t/body do so now), start vehicle and allow to idle for a few minutes with a/c on then for a few minutes with a/c off, I also turn the steering wheel around a few times to activate p/steering pressure switch during this time, then take for a five or so minute drive at cruising speeds, stop-start, etc. Hopefully this helps
