Default XR8 Airbag Warning Light

Hey Guys,
After having the battery disconnected for a week I started her up and now the airbag warning light flashes 4 times every 10 seconds. Have I done anything? No fuses are blwn etc.
Just wondering if it's a fault and maybe should get it looked at.

Cheers
Mick

Put black tape over the airbag warning light!?:

Check fuse No 21 (bottom right under the dash) - it's a 10 amp fuse, and while it may not look blown, change it and see what happens. If that doesn't help, then you probably need to plug in the code reader and see what it is. Just make sure it's fixed before the ACT show'n'shine - I believe you are bringing up LGs Chiles for me. :Up_to_som

Thanks JC I'll try first thing, don't worry, will get it fixed for Canberra.
Would I take it to Ford or an Auto Elec.?

apparently this may also be caused by the wiring under the driver's or passenger's seat, the seat belt sensor i think...i'm pretty sure someone else had a problem similar to this not long ago...

maybe this? http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...t=airbag+light

Did you find that Moto under your console too? Score! :P

Also Mick, do you reckon if a Dynamat Bulk Pack, will do my boot & parcel shelf?

I forgot it wasn't an AU1. Nice pick-up bodes.

Still, the black tape works - I've done it to a mate's EF, and he hasn't complained since about the air bag light being on.

Look forward to finally meeting you Mick - if only to get "my" wheels. LOL.

I have the same airbag warning light since shanging my seats.

In a crash will the airbag fail to deploy because of this?

it's very likely that it may, not deploy that is, because the light means there is an error somewhere in the system, best off probably taking it to ford and getting them to do a scan and reset the light if they can

I had exactly the same problem after changing the seats in my BA. Turned out it was a faulty seat belt pre-tensioner, swapped it over with the one off the original seats and all was fixed. Take it to Ford, they'll tell you exactly where the problem is.

Sorry to get a little off topic...but how much do you think all that Dynamat would weigh?

Dynamat is very heavy. How many layers did you put down Mick? No wonder your car is so low :P

Also, where abouts do you get your Dynamat from? Just wandering if it's a cheaper alternative, than what I can get it for (~$190).

I've put down just the one layer, it's actually Stinger RoadKill door kit, used 2 boxes which was just enough, bought from PHAT Audio for $150 each. Each box has 4 sheets 12" x 36" (12 sq. ft.) weight wise isn't that heavy (about 4kg) but the original Dynamt I used is of a different material and thicker.and slightly heavier. Should provide adequate sound barrier. :

i'd be betting that you've either fogotton to connect the plugs under teh seats or you've messed up some of the wiring under the steats somehow.

have you got it fixed yet?

I would agree with orbit. I know the wire under my seats are not hooked up at the moment. Black wire with a yellow plug.
