Have posted this in the LPG forums but will post here to because the question is AU specific.
Have been looking into converting my AU XR8 ute to gas. Was told the tank would have to be mounted where the spare wheel is to get a desent size tank (60 litres usable) IS this where most tanks are mounted on falcon utes ?. PS ute is a styleside atm but I am having a alloy tray fitted soon Thanks Mike |

i would have thought with all the different shape and size tanks available you could sneak in a couple of slightly smaller ones some where? check this link they are`nt au`s but you get the idea and if your fitting a flat tray i`m thinking this would give you even more room. http://images.google.com.au/imgres?i...EKXm6gOLtsG-Bw

Took ute in yesterday so they could measure up tank options; so I'm going to have the tank fitted under the tray behind the cab

there are a few different options to have. one is the spare tyre removal job as youo already know. another is parralel to your petrol tank on the right hand side. biggest tank i have fitted there was a 360 x 840 which IIRC was about 60L usable. another option....probably not the best currently since you are having a tray fitted soonish is a tank across the tray behind the cab. doing it this way you could end up with at least 100L useable....perfect for a hungry 8. Or if your up for it, straight gas conversion with twin tanks, remove the petrol tank and have both tanks fitted similar to the E-Gas utes. So leave your options open. If the installer says you cannt do it any of the ways I have just stated, give Torquegas at Caloundra a call, I used to work there and we did those options to AU and B series utes all the time.
