Default Webasto Hollandia recall affects Ford and Holden sunroofs.

Hey all,

Thought I might post this up.

Just reading the paper an it seems that Webasto Hollandia have issued a recall for the 700 and 900 series glass sunroofs as "factory" fitted to Holdens and fords without a true factory sunroof.

The recall affects Webasto Hollandia sunroofs with a build date between sep07' and jul10 for the 900series, and jan02' and dec09' for the 700 series.

900 series is the twin sliding panoramic style roof, and the 700 Is the common single glass roof.

There is a risk that the glue holding the glass onto the frame will fail at higher speeds, causing the sunroof to fly off unexpectedly. Ooh my what fun.

3 big recall notices in the Herald Sun today. One from Holden, One from Ford, and one from Webasto itself. Guys If you have and aftermarket or factory ford or Holden sunroof, be mindful to follow this up. Most aussi cars with a sunroof whether "factory" or dealer fitted or fitted to an older car later in it's life will likely be a Webasto Hollandia.

Cheers,

Dan.

Does anybody know what is involved in changing the roof glass, do they have to drop the roof lining out or can it be done via the roof hole???

Glass can be changed over without too much fuss by the experts. On a regular sunroof service - the glass is usually removed anyways and all the channels and rails are checked - lubed etc.

Glass sunroof on our BF departed company with the car at around 100km/h towards the end of last year. Took it to a sunroof place in Adelaide, and it was replaced free of charge. They were obviously well aware of the problems. Water gets under the glass, rusts the frame reducing the glue's ability to hold it in place. Very lucky no other vehicles around when it came off, and that it didn't damagage our car on its way to the ground

Between Jan02' and Dec09' for the 700 series is a hell of a lot of sunroofs !!

I will call Prestige Sunroofs tomorrow to get mine checked out....bit of a worry......I frequently have mine in the angled popped up position when cruising.....would hate for it to fly off and cause potential damage or injury to any motorist behind me .....

Mines a bad one - is now booked in to get the glass replaced this week.

If anyone else has glass that needs replacing - I would strongly suggest being pro active and try to get it booked in asap. There may well be a very long waiting list to get it done. Prestige Sunroofs in Melbourne are doing mine and they are anticiptaing 10,000+ units !!!!!!!!

The Webasto Hollandia Customer Service HOTLINE for more info is 1800 450 755

That's for sure....Considering there's only 2 Webasto places in NSW according to their hotline they are gonna be flat chat. Luckily one of them is 5 mins drive from where I live

Well I rang up Ford today and they want to have my car for either 2 days as they told me that there is 3 different size sunroofs and that they need to find out what size it has OR I could take it there for them to check out the size and then take it back again to get the work done. When I asked what was involved with the job they responded "We don't know, yours will be the first one we do" Needless to say, I have rung up Prestige Sunroofs and I was told that it is a 45 minute job for them. I am sorry Ford, but I won't be requiring your help on this one. LOL!!!!!!!!

That's where I'm going this Thursday to get the glass replaced as well.
I was also told approx 45mins for the job - so I'm preparing for an hours wait at least !!!

Luckily its only a glass out - glass in job - with no major structural removal of the rest of the sunroof. I've seen em remove the glass before on my car as part of a regular service and adjustment and there isn't too much involved - just needs someone that will take care and not get their greasy fingers on the roof lining !!!!!!!!!

Yep thats great...I've noticed the headlining on mine is sagging at the rear slightly so this also needs to be fixed under their 3 years warranty so may get them to do it as well while its there
