Default I just got a T2TL50

... Well actually I had it delivered to me on Saturday night (thanks Dad). I only just got it ID'd and rego'd etc today. It was easier/cheaper for me to pay dad a plane ticket and fuel for the car to get it for me, rather than for me to lose a day at work, or worse, uni.
What prompted the uprgrade? I just wanted a new car, I looked at a few 'Lanes and LTD's, made an offer on a few cars (inluding Daniel's FBT through here) found this at a dealer 3hours east of melbourne (I'm in Adelaide). I also am aware this is one of 12 made, and is a "big" step up from just an ordinary 'Lane or LTD, I figure it will hold its value, if not increase over the next few years, pity its not on gas lol.

Anyways, I gave the guy a call, he knew the full histroy as he was the 2nd owner, the first being a "big wig at ford" and the 3rd being a mate of his who was a real estate agent, who then traded it on a G220. So I'm the 4th owner. He was all to happy to help me out and tell me all about the car, the phone call ended with me giving him a figure, he said he'd do some sums and call me back.

The end result was it cost me ~$22,500, well below what he had it on for and just above what I offered (~$20,000 for those playing at home). Came with new front tyres, 90,000km service completed (showing 87,xxxkm right now) and the powersteering rack replaced as it had a slight leak, all rotors and pads had been replaced before it was traded, spare wheel looks like its been only been on the road once or twice.
I took it for a drive this afternoon, faaaarrrr outttt it is a completely different car to my NC (I found this out the first roundabout I took), the steering is so direct, does not feel like I'm pushing 18's around. As for power, this is a completely different animal compared to my HO motor in the NC, it doesn't feel like i'm pushing around a 300+kg heavier car, and the delivery is straight through. It's an '01 build #016, with Aluminium heads. I love it.
I really don't know what else to say, I'm still just shocked. The alarm, the leather interior, everything.

Of course... pics...

Plans are (but not well thought out yet):
-Adapt a CAI from a T3, or a BAGT/Typhoon? Anyone who knows whats best/works can share if they want. The things only breathing in as much air as my NC is right now.
-A X pipe for the already existing twin exhaust, again based on people's opinions, sound changes, power gains/loss, what an exhaust shop thinks.
-Side clear repeaters (will be getting these from an AFF member in a few weeks when I'm on holidays)
-Lastly, again based on peoples opinions and $$$ at the time, either an edit, or a unichip? Range shows around 450 from a TANK on premium, an extra ~50km per tank would not go astray, and the extra performance.

I think that's it, keep it good, keep it clean, respect it, love it.
There was already "one dodgy guy" checking it out when it was out the front earlier, so I'm going to have to make sure it's always kept in my sight where possible. I'm also going to have to put up with the "daddys' car" comments, Ii'm sure that's what the guys in the sick VN were thinking as I drove past them. It is MY car, it's just cheaper to put the insurance in dads name ($118 a month compared to something ridiculous).

Ahh.. I think I've seen that car somewhere before.. LOL. Good buy James and hope you enjoy it.

About the mods, I'd say no to the T3/BA GT intake. Too much outlay for hardly any gain, if any. No to the X pipe too, same reason. Clear repeaters is a yes, and if you plan to keep the car for a few years then yes to edit aswell. Edit is the better choice, specially as the TL50 being an auto, shift pressures and pattern can be altered.

Nice TL.

You could always try a BA XR8 setup - you should be able to get a second hand one with reusable (BMC/K&N) filter for under $200. Using a pod adaptor for the MAF, and a short 3" section of pipe, they are pretty easy to fit. Here's a pic of mine in case you're interested. It actually looks factory, and way better than the square box, and performs a bit better, IMO.

Nice pickup FF86.

I actually live in Bairnsdale and know this car. You have got yourself a nice car there, and i know the real estate agent and he always babyed the car. I was actually disappointed knowing the car had been traded on a G220 :(

I had been meaning to talk to him and get him to give me first dibbs on it when he sold it, but meh...

Have fun with her

Cheers,
Michael

Great buy, look after her & she'll look after you.
As for the mods, A X pipe will do nothing at all, & the air cleaner my help but hardly worth all the mucking around.
Do some homework before starting any mods, it will save you big money in the long run.. There are many old wifes tails out there..

Hey, in the top of the boot there's a carpeted bulge pointing downwards below the parcel shelf. What's that? Does it cover the subwoofer? Don't ya just love those off-colour steering wheel airbag covers? Mine is the same. I want to black-dye it to match the leather.
