Default BA larger front discs to AU2

Hello,
Is there a link on the site to fitting the larger BA front discs to an AU2 XR8?

I looked in the technical section but couldn't find anything.

Thanks, Wasim

Sorry, I know that you were only asking for a link but I thought I would make sure what you are doing first.

What size are the BA discs you are fitting? I may have missed something but are you fitting BA calipers as well?

If you are fitting standard BA brakes they will be 298mm and if they are the turbo ones they will be the 322mm.

If you are only upgrading to the standard 298mm I personally wouldn't. The standard AUII rotors are 287mm so you are essentially only gaining 11mm. I would be spending my money on some decent DBA rotors and pads.

Try this link https://fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=89164
You will have to wade through some chatter though!
I did the BA 298 mm upgrade on the front of my AUII XR6 and found it ok, not outstanding. PG2 offers good alternatives. If I was doing it again I would go for the 322mm upgrade.
cheers
Bill.

You can't just swap the discs, you need to change the calliper and carrier as well. They will bolt up without issue.

I have fitted BF turbo front brakes ]322mm] and territory rears [328mm] to my AU3 XR8

but as mention go the 322m don't bother with the 298mm not much of a improvement really
I had BA XR8 brakes with DBA T2's paired with Bendix HD pads on the front of my AU2 fairmont

and the XR8 with the 322mm ones it brakes heaps better then the fairmont I can tell you that

BF turbo brakes

Territory rears

Apologies.

Yeah, was aware. It is just that some people, including myself, don't always differentiate between BA and BF and I didn't feel like explaining it all.

Sorry.

I have a brand new pair of BF XR8/XR6T 322mm slotted Protex rotors if anyone's interested, and matching slotted Protex rears (AU2/AU3). Brand new in boxes.

Bought for my AU recently but I've gone a different direction.

In WA.

Hey guys,

I just posted this on a different thread on this forum but this thread had as been used a bit more recently, so I just thought I'd try here too.
I have a au2 xr8 I have recently fitted front premium brakes off a ba xr6 turbo, they are 325mm x 32mm and apparently use a c4 caliper.
I obviously bought them second hand, when I fitted them, the pedal was terrible! It nearly has to be on the floor before the brakes work... The old 287s worked better but they were warped to the **** house...

Has anyone that has done a brake upgrade had this problem or know a fix for it?
Cheers 👍🏻

I did that caliper combo with; AU1 booster & master; BF booster & Master; now BF booster with AU 1 ton master.
Pedal was initially spongy but eventually turned out to be air in the rear system.

Try bleeding the system again but push the pistons fully into the caliper. It will get as much air out of the system.
You can even go to the extreme of unbolting the caliper and turning it in your hand to move all the air around to get it to the bleed nipple. I've had to do that for success with a racecar.

Also, they are the C5 caliper.

Thanks for the reply mate.

I have only fitted the front brakes so far so I haven't bled the rears. I have bled the fronts twice, but the calipers haven't been removed during bleeding, I might have to try that.

I still have rear territory brakes to fit but I wanted to sort out this first.

Did you find the bf booster any different?

Had this issue. It was the pads sitting on the wear lip on the disc. Put a chamfer on the inner and outer edge of the pads and try that.

Initially I couldn't work it out. Booked if into Ford and they bled it and couldn't work it out. I didn't pay at for the work and took it home. Had a good look and finally worked it out

What happens is when the discs go on the calipers dont fit in exactly the same place.

Another fix is get the discs skimmed.

325mm discs are ford premium and run a c5/c6 caliper

Could be your brake rotors well out of balance.
