Default Joe Gauci PROFAB Cortina APSA MSB Record @ Sydney Jamboree Video's

an amazing effort by Joe and the crew. coming out and blitzing his own record not just once but twice! posting a 7.41@197 then a 7.37@199mph, and he even drove it back to the pits after the 7.37 pass i had never seen sooooo many people at the track whip their phones out and start texting about his achievement. popped down to congratulate Joe after the pass he and his crew were pumped, watch out for May 14th i know Joe wants that 200mph

MSB rules state:

1.5 Standard rear suspension points must be used, rear suspension mounts maybe reinforced or fabricated in standard size, shock absorber location can be moved, and leaf springs can be moved inwards.

yeah, a couple of other guys have protested. i think it has to do with the blade and housing setup. people are always going to question things, we race in MSB and Joe's car to us seems more than fine, hopefully their won't be a problem and the record stands.

i read the same thing that him n Simon are gonna hookup n 3/4 chassis Johnny's Torana. but i think Johnny will keep trying for now in MSB, Norm @ Northmead Auto just built the new engine for him a few weeks back, and it made more power with lower comp than before, so i think they are going to be able to pump in more NOS.

Even if there is, no matter what, it is awesome for a 28.5 x 10.5 tyre.

i reckon once johnny gets that thing to stay down it is going to give joe a bloodly good run, might even go close to knocking off his time. my opinion though

True, Simons had 100's of cars and refined all of them very well, remember his LJ?? That bloody thing was amazing considering his budget.

Simon can drive anything and am surprised he hasnt moved up the ladder.

Joe's run was brilliant

over the next few years will be a few more cars coming. it makes it hard for the little guys with a small budget, but u can only try. once u start getting into 7-sec territory it gets costly.

peak power from 70mm turbo's is being reached, a good set of 70mm turbo's will pump out maybe 1800-2000hp. by my calculations Joe had to be making around 1900hp to run that pass.

they are running 6.0@250 on a 10.5W, and low-mid 6's on a 325 drag radial tyre in the US. i don't think we will see 6's but low-low 7's would be the limits i'd say, ultimately they are still factory style suspension cars.

Thanks. Got a mate who runs PSCA in the states and I'm interested in comparing what we run here to what they run over there. The comparison is hard, they have a complex weightbreak formula depending on power adders/suspension and 6 or 7 different classes. Gauci's cortina would be a hitter I think but hard to say exactly how much, they have a lot of rules around turbos. You can pretty much run what you want, just add or subtract weight depending on your setup.
Check out the Streetcar Supernationals in Vegas if you get a chance. Best meeting I've ever been to by a country mile. Usually the week before thanksgiving

sweet as, been following the PSCA the last few years, think there is a meeting on this weekend. hopefully be going to SCSN this year, watched it all online last year. my tuner tunes a few cars running in PSCA Ed Thornton, Scott Oksas think might be a couple others also.

it is hard to compare our cars to the US as u said, not sure what class he would race in maybe Wild Street but he would have to add alot of weight.

The time is impressive but everyone now will start to put traction control in their cars so the small tyre does not come into affect as much as it should.

Now with the ruling on turbos as it apperantly was a grey area you can run a turbo with reducers to make extra power.
