Default mk1 Auto

Hi everyone im new to this site, im looking for some information on my mk1 escort. Its a 73 mk1 4 door 1300HC automatic. Did the mk1 come out with an auto trans? Everywhere i look it only says they came with 4 speed manual. When i bought the car the guy said it was rare but is it? Thanks for any information you can give.

The autos can actually be a bit more sought after as the trans tunnel is larger, so its easier to swap gearboxes
