Default China to build Taurus

Quote:
The Ford Taurus will be manufactured in China from 2015 at the Changan-Ford joint venture. The Ford Taurus will have its China-debut on the April 2015 Shanghai Auto Show. Price will range from 300.000 yuan to 450.000 yuan ($50.000 – $75.000). The Taurus will be powered by a 2.0 four-cylinder with 240hp, a 3.5 liter V6 with 365hp, and a new China-only 2.5 liter four-cylinder which will be positioned between the 2.0 and the 3.5.

Car News China

I wonder if Australia will be the recipient of the Taurus to sit above the Mondeo/Fusion...

No Toreass for us, and this is the CD4 next gen car.

Ford arent interested in competing in large car segments. China is an exception because the market demands chauffeur-friendly cars like sedans.

I wonder though if this could mean a 6cyl Mondeo/Fusion is possible in the future? Given the cars will share the same roots.

The CD4 sorta made me think that RHD could have been possible, but it would probably be smarter to chop and change stuff between the models to have a tailor made product for Australia.

CD4 for Australia and RHD were canned awhile ago.

The volumes don't make a business case. There will be no CD4 RHD for Australia.

Yeah Mondeo is CD4 and we are getting that, Ford have said so, he is probably referring to the CD4 platform variant for the Taurus.

Doubt if there will be a tailor made product for Australia. That gets killed off soon. Yanks are not interested in the Australian market since globalisation became the buzz word.

Not enough people are interested in Mondeo, can't work it out but if there was a choice between it and the
next gen Taurus, I'd pick the latter. The larger car with optional AWD and better engines would carry the day.

so given how many Mondeos sell in Europe it does puzzle me a little that they aren't better received here. As both new Mondeo and New Taurus are both off the same CD4 platform (albeit CD4.1 v CD 4.3) and that both platforms are now owned by the US I don't reckon there will be too much difference between the two when they arrive.

as well as the work already announced there's quite a bit else that should come our way too. I'm reasonably confident of another ten years' worth of work for PD here, if perhaps not at full strength.

the only people that I know that sang the praises of mondeo didn't upgrade again to ford badge. I would look at the way dealers are treated. or their pricing arrangements.

people I deal with every day don't trade a car on a similar car or brand. more likely to see the chioce of the month.

Not one to thread-mine to the hilt, but here's an update on the 2016 Taurus snapped in China.

Very FG-X looking to me so far..

So you are suggesting that the reason that ford waisted bucks on FG-X is to get the public ready for the one ford product on offer-Taurus.

I saw an FG-X this week-Dark grey ute in the dealer forecourt.
look great with some sort of roo bar or ladder racks.
