OK all- I thought I would post on my road trip to Bathurst. Went from Newcastle to Mudgee via Bylong Valley. Stage 2 intercooler put in, 1 day before trip. In the photos it is very prominent from the front- can see 2 vertical allow runners for the radiator, really stands out. New engine oil, gearbox, diff, and clutch oils, as well as brake lines. Cleaned car and waxed it. Phots show car at start, spruced up.
A good mate ("Okie") ), as well as a guy who sold performance v8s ("V8 Man"), came along. Okie is a Ford man, owned Mustang, and is a frustrated rev head. Started drive, start of Bylong Valley gave it some stick on a corner, V8 Man got a bit whiney. So I toned it down. Drove into start of Bylong Valley, storm building up- V8 man got worried about roads, hails etc etc. Took photo of Bylong valley, wet roads. Still driving sedately because of V8 man. Came behind SRT 500 -all over the road on corners. Sat behind him, then on sand road-not good for the duco...., straight road, decided to overtake, SRT man accelerated to block me so I hooked it, blasted past at uhm speed, would you believe a slight dip in road and some 25 metres to front a huge pad of water some 6 metres across- lets just say brakes did not wash off that much speed on gravel- an d we hovercrafted across it...at speed....SRT man stopped on the other side. Anyway- after that episode and V8 man -toned it right down. Rain came, and drove into the Bylong valley way proper. Driving conservatively, then Okie moans- "this is like driving with Little Miss Daisey" "We gunna get to Mudgee by tomorrow?"- well that was it- I remember driving up the Bylong Valley mountain range in the wet with tight steep hairpin bends, and the yawing and squireling left/right at rear with power on with the booming engine backfarting off the cliffs with traction ignition hoplessly inadequate in preventing that left right reardward dance as we skated up the tight hairpin sequence up the range- most fun driving I have ever had ..... Besides a little moan initially, even V8 man was enjoying it by the end. The Falcon FGX XR8 did an amazing job on these country roads, better than an AMG C63 with sports pack and sports suspension on these types or roads- Kudos Ford Australia. My FGX XR8 was now dirty.....such a good vehicle -so impressed how it came through on this run.... Then into Mudgee- pub night, little to drink, and then Bathurst. Amazing day, could not resist taking photos of the uhmm pink ..... wagon. My prerogative to not show any Commodore photos... On the way back home in Sydney on a Motorway a Ferrari tried to induce me in a race-I mean get real, 3 guys loaded up...in a Family Car- what was he thinking... Please- others with stories of drive and photos please share your trips. [BOX][/BOX]

Cool story! I like that you've colour coded your mirrors. Looks way better.

That was handy in that case
If I got a FGX XR, I'd get my mirrors colour coded for sure.
