I was looking through those the other day. There are NO listings for that DVD player, yet about 15 for the "e-book" to get it.

I'm sure some of them work, but in the end I'm not giving my money away for instructions that might not exist, and if they do are probably illegal.

Of course it isn't a scam. How could it be with quotes like this

It does work. If it didnt the company would have been shut down. It has been in operation for years and will continue to provide a quality service for years to come.
Nuff said.

The links aren't scams but they are usually only open for limited times & are mostly used as promotions when you buy or join for other things, some fairly long term.
Seems like someone wasted their money on that though, bidding $130 to buy a link that can get you an in car dvd player for $100US = a final cost of $270AU plus postage of the dvd player from the US = waste of time & money.
This feedback sums it up fairly well

all you'd win is a list of wholesaler you could have got from the yellow pages or google, there will be nothing in the add about minimum quantities payment and shipping terms etc.

well i just googled the actual player to see if its even real or not and the first link i clicked on i found a price for it £1,579.98 (it is a real product). so you can sort of see why people might fall for crap like this if they are too bright or for whatever reason.

from what i see, it isnt strictly a scam. what it is is misleading and possibly deceitful. the advertiser spends a lot of time listing the features of the dvd player and towards the bottom advises that you arent bidding for the player, just a link to find the player cheap. funnily ebough, this is the second one of these i have seen today, the other was some dick selling the link to buy a cheap mobile phone. anyway, if it sounds too good to be true, then it is.

LOL! I made a similar thread a couple of weeks back... Apparently it's like that age-old pyramid scheme with the money - you need to get people who refer people and so on and so on until you see some outcome. Scam.

That is incredible, shouldn't eBay stop this kinda crap? It's such a scam, it even says you have to READ THE AD CAREFULLY...

Very amusing feedback though.

I might start selling 'treasure maps' on ebay where a big red X marks places where you can get good deals from. I'll just rip pages out of the street directory and then coat them in coffee and burn the edges for that authentic look

It's not exactly a scam. The link you'll recieve is similar to this one: Matrix Extreme. (For those wondering, no I did not pay to get this link, I found a guy on Ebay giving it away free)

Basically it uses what's called a straight line, matrix system. Where you purchase the Ebook and am placed in a line. They say how much the que is to join (for instance a 10 person cycle), but what they don't say, is how many people have signed up before you.

What happens is, for a 10 person cycle, you go in line, and assuming your first, as soon as 10 people sign up for the same thing, you get the "Free Gift". Then for the second person to get it, yet another 10 people must sign up. (making that 19 more people after him). For the Third person, another 10 must sign up, for the Fourth, another 10, and so on and so on, so that if your the 10th person for instance, then you'll need at least 100 people to sign up. (Don't quote me on the math, my brain hurts).

This is why many people consider it a scam, and so many other people sell the Ebooks they purchased, on Ebay. If you spent any money, and had the chance to make it back, wouldn't you?

The Ebay sales are to do 2 things, recoup money and advertise the website. They need people to visit the site in order to have a chance at getting the item they want. (remember they need hundreds and thousands of people to end up getting the product).

I've never tried it, but I've thought about it. (I mean, if it costs $20, I'd prefer to have something to show, but may as well give it a try).

So to your question, is it a scam? Technically, no. The authorities have looked at it, and have no grounds to shut them down. The only reason Ebay shuts them down, is to get the complaints off their back.

Sorry, don't agree. It works on the "pyramid principle" which was outlawed legally as a "scam" because innocent people are conned into shelling out money for something they are probably never going to see. Amway and other pyramid sellers got by with loopholes (and a hell of a lot of money to the right people) in similar schemes. I think Ebay has just got too big to control this kind of crap.

there is soo much bogus crap on e-bay now, look at cars there is a fellow who sets up auctions for, and these are the ones i can remember; nissan 350z, ford BA XR8 with herrod/djr 320 kw engine, Holden HSV GTO monaro, amazing all these auctions were BUY IT NOW $9,000, Watch out for this as he goes on under different names. if you ask a question he will e-mail you an e-mail stating he left australia and is residing in Rome, and included in that price is ofcourse AIR FREIGHT to your door... Like i said before too good to be true!!!
