Default 1996 ford courier obd2

hi guys i'm at it again and working once again on the good old 1996 ford courier now its running rough as mention on my lpg ford courier posts but i just managed to get me some obd scaning equipment for my other cars i'm working on and thought id have a crack at running it on this old girl to now that i have the tools lol

how ever this is my problem the 1996 ford courier has no obd 2 connector inside the cab the only one i can find is over the left shock tower under the hood how ever it is not the usuall 16 pin connector
but rather this now i'm wondering if anyones seen this in a usb cable or even a an adapter for the 16 pin cable

or even the propper cable for a obd 2 scaner tool or if indeed it is a ob2 compliant car or is there another obd connector port i missing

cheers
Mike

It's not an obd2 connector. Obd2 came into effect in 2006 in Aus (I think). There will be 2 terminals in the diagnostic plug you can bridge out to get flash codes. Sorry off the top of my head don't no what they are

ok thanks chookaradley i thought all fords in aussie were all obd 2 since 1992 as the 1998 au falcon was obd2 just seems the ford couriers and mazda b2600 don't have it and you say i can get flash codes from bridging ?

second question is how do i go about that sorry for the dumb question kinda new to the computer side of things with cars

sorry for the edit but just reading all usa cars were all obd 2 compliant since late 1995 and in 1996 it was compulsory and the ford courier is actually a ford ranger or raider in the usa

Yeh per your picture that's the non OBD Mazda one per https://codes.rennacs.com/photo-gall...ICE-Photos.php

There are adapter cables like https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/For-Mazd...IAAOSwlMFZOCEM but how plug and play it is may depend on the brand of code reader.
