Default Any pool technicians on here?

I have installed a new sand filter, and pool cleaner.

When you first turn on the filter the pressure gauge reads 10. The clear lid on the pump was water all the way to the top. The return jets are pumping heaps of water but one if them is also blowing fine air bubbles. After about 20 minutes the gauge very slowly drops.

Over a period of five mintues of running the cleaner in the pool the gauge drops to zero, the cleaner stops, and the return jets have little or no water comming from them.

Check the baskets, there is little or no debris in them.

I have replaced the orings on the clear lid and the barrel union on the suction side of the pump. Still the problem exists.

I have tried both of the above with the filter on recirculate, still have the same problem but it takes a little longer for the pressure and water levels to drop.

Any suggestions? Help? Anything? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHA

im no pool technition but it does sound like you have a lose joint somewhere in the suction side of the pump, all i can suggest is going through one by one and checking that all the connections are air tight

If you know exactley where your pipes run, you are supposed to be able to listen for the hissing of air getting in the pipes, or you will hear the water getting out.

While its running, try the old screwdriver on the pipe trick to see what you can here (the screwdriver needs to have a metal shaft from the very top to bottom of it)
