The other week, I bought a 4x4 from a car yard. Unfortunately the car yard used that bright green paint on the windscreen to show the price of the car.
In the last couple of weeks, I've washed the windscreen a couple of times with glass cleaner, and car wash. I took it to work the other night (gettin' too cool for the bike!), and when it was time to go home at 7am, the car was covered with dew/condensation. I started laughing, because where the dew settled on the windscreen, you could see the price of the car showing. I've had a closer look at the glass, when you spray water on it, it seems where the paint was applied (and scraped off) looks smoother than the rest of the windscreen. If the whole thing's dry, you can't see anything. I've tried metho, turps, usual glass cleaner, I'm going to try a 'cut & polish' next. Has anyone else had, or seen what this car yard paint does to glass? or how to fix it? |

Try some quick detailer it works on the old crayons.

You could try to 'smooth out' the whole finish with Rain-X. It might actually be that the only good bit of windscreen is what's been behind the price. I reckon rain-x is a must have anyway.

It may sound crazy, however I know from mates of mine who are detailers and panel beaters, they use soft steel wool or dishwash sponge with the steel wool side (blue scotch brite sponge are fantastic) in a bucket of hot water with detergent. Wash the windscreen with this, be carefull not to touch the paintwork, rubbers or plastics as you will cause scratches on them.
This does not cause scratches on you glass, I've done it my self. Wipe the window dry after your satisfied with the scrubbing.

Try polishing the widow / windscreen with Car polish the way you do the painted surfaces.
