Not sure, but it would be bloody good!

Use search button to check out what's been done here on the forums. I think you'd find some that have put a BA turbo in.

Fitment wise, don't reckon it would be an issue in the physical sense. The ECU and other associated stuff, would be the real hard part!

I'd say it can be done, but costly and fiddly. The AU doesn't have the later cars' CAN BUS system either.

Not saying it cant be done, heaps of people now have transplanted the Barra I6 into earlier cars, but be aware you're gonna be up for some hefty costs and fitting headaches...

It depends on the sump and how it fits up with the AU cross member.
The FG setup is different from the B-series due to new crossmember setup (same as Territory) .... and the way the steering rack/column setup design has been altered.

It may be trickier than you think. The only way to check it is the have an empty engine bay and a donor motor to trial fit.

perhaps get in contact with ftg auto salvage (site sponsor) , they do the odd conversion, they did an f6 driveline into an au a while ago, and they might have a clue on the latest engine for a fit....good luck.

You would have to be very fond of your AU thats for sure.

All comes down to dollars and what you are trying to achieve. Id reckon you would be lucky to walk away with a receipt under $10k for the conversion....for an AU2.....

Anything is possible with the right amount of money and know how.

A much more sensible way is to just throw a hair dryer onto what you already have.

Yep, or better yet just buy an XR6t.

That was after they'd put a Barra engine into an AU. I'm not sure they got it right though, as last I knew they had issues getting the dual VCT working properly.

I'm sure it could be done, but for the expense, I reckon you'd probably get yourself into a BF XR6 or such.

I do admit though, that the power of the Barra engine in the light package of the AU would get the blood running! LOL!
