Very well done Ratter, the look on yours and the missus faces when the 12.5 came up on the boards were priceless. And as you say the car looks stock and is an everyday driver which makes it even better IMO.....And well done to the tall piece of for a great driving job those auto's must be hard to drive..........LOL

Talking Boss 290

As usual Chris, if there's record to be broken you've got something to do with it. Also, 90kg of nutbag, takes one to know one hey......

Good teamwork from 3 different shops guys, and great to see another boss into the 12's

It's looking alot like the beginning of LS1 development, it just takes some quality R & D and some runs down the strip to get the most out of them

Yes it's quite amazing, when you see some of the Rwkw numbers the XR8 guys post with all bolt ons and a tune compared to the 290's it not really impressive at all!

The 290 is definitly the Boss :evilking:

Its a funny thing - the 260 really is a de-tuned engine. 9.5:1 comp in this day and age? what were they thinking.........

Well how times fly.

It was 1 year ago and my pursuit broke the unopened record and a few months later and it was the first, and still the only unopened N/A 11 Sec boss.

I still can't get over how quick the boss can be made to go and still be driveable and reliable everyday.
My car has been so reliable that the only mechanical things done, (besides the mods) have been oil changes and just last week the plenumn was opened to clean the oil from inside of it and a set of the rocker cover breathers fitted (supplied by Aussie Car Enhancements). The motor even has the original oil pump gears in it still

I want to thank Chris from bluepower for his tuning, his advice, and reassurances of help if things went wrong (which they didn't), he has shown me what can be acheived and inspired me on to bigger things.

Thanks

I saw the title of the thread and thought someone had either ran a 3 valve or a XR8 sedan had finally done it but it's Micks old record popping up.......Geez was that 12 months ago, i remember standing in the staging lanes watching that thinking this is pretty cool. Can't remember what car i was running but will check my records for interest.

Well done again Mick.

Cheers Craig

Hey whats the difference with naturally aspirated and totally un opend? Like I figure un opend is all the same engine bits but the n/a is with out the aid of a turbo or supercharge. So how does ratter have 11's with his un opened boss and do mid 12s with n/a boss. Are they 2 different cars?

N/A (Naturally Aspirated) totally unopened means exactly that but some of us have fitted billet oil pump gears which means the motor has been opened and is in the N/A opened class.

How did ratters get in the 11's but brake a record doing 12.5? In his sig it says:

Australias Quickest & Fastest Totally Unopened Boss & Quickest Naturally Aspirated Boss
11.763 @ 116.18 and backed up

I'm sorry maybe I'm abit tired or ashamed to admit a little ignorant lol but how?

Thanks

it ran 12.548 a year ago, then a week later it ran 12.50, then it went 12.45 at the LS1 nats (also came second in the ford class), a larger convertor (3500) was fitted and it ran 12.23 and then a couple of weeks later it ran 11.7 at calder.

It was all done a while ago, the point of bringing it up was to point out a year later and the car still is excelent proving how great these things are and when done properly they do not suffer any reliability issues

No more race duties for this car, Chris and myself wanted to see how far we could go and keep the car as nice to drive as a stocker. I think the car may have had another 10th in it on a perfect run, but did not want to keep racing and risk a failure using standard pump gears, we were only trying to be first into the 11's.

I'd love to put a S/C on it but I have just invested a heap of money at work so funds are not there to play for a while.
