Default $40,000~ budget.. What Ford Ute?

Hi guys, my old man is retiring and to go off with a bang he's got 40k for a nice ute. He's looking at a base model VE ute with the 6L V8. What can you suggest? He's coming from an XF Longreach ute.

I'm not too sure on prices with the falcons, but what i'd like to see him in is a BF XR6T or BF XR8.

Prerequisites ..

<60,000KM
Prefer V8
Prefer caryard over second hand.

Thanks for any help guys!

CAMS290's pursuit ute in the forums is an awesome buy for under 40k and would eat a stock 6L and some modded.

I think this one's the go.

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11208408

And saving $6k in the process. Actually you could spend $1000 stockpiling rear tyres and 2500 boxes of Kleenex's of Holden SS owners........

40K would see him in a Low K's BA MK2 or even a BF Pursuit Ute.

I would stay away from Base/SS V8 Ute's if it's his retirement present to himself, It seems every male in there 20's has has a SS Ute and if they don't have one they want one the FPV has some Class behind it aswell as Ford badge.

No such thing mate. There was a 1200 ute but as far as im aware there was no 1600 ute. $38,000 worth of mods to a datto would be nuts HAHA

This is the best advice here, go for a New SS VE or a New XR6 Turbo/ XR8 BFII on runout or wait & get a New Orion XR6 Turbo however may pay a bit more for the Orion compared to Runout BFII's

Buy an XD ute.
Wind the clock back.
Spend the $3800 change on the running gear and paint.
He won't be upset.

I have been pricing new xr8 utes over the last 2 days it took the salesmen 2 minutes to knock $5000 off the new price. You should be able to get them down alot more as I wasn't even trying.

Yep, can cofirm that, my VE 08 SS was under $40k drive away, plus $3k extra discount for the GM card makes for an attractive buy. Ended up costing $36,750 out of my pocket.

If your happy to take an 07 build, I cant imagine paying much more than $39k drive away. Perhaps even less for an unpopular colour such as Crunch. If you can look at it without throwing up.

Awsome utes as well.

Yeah he's made up his mind about a car that doesn't exist. How do you know he never asked Vippin's advice anyway? Apart from that is there a problem with people asking for opinions of other's? Have something constructive to say for a change!
