Hi there. I have discovered an oil leak on the right hand side of the engine, looks like its coming from nearer ther front. Also looks like its been running down and around the area for a while. Doesnt look too good lol
Im prepared for the worst, but also hoping for a relieving diagnosis. If anyone has a spare 1min 30secs then please have a look at a video i took of it before. Its a bit dodgy as i just tried to hold my phone in the area with little room. Thank you in advance for any info you may have. No oil is making it to the ground. I think its being burnt off and landing on /building up on other components. This is the link to the short video Watch "Ford 3 au vct" on YouTube https://youtu.be/tyYcF16UrVk

It’s really common as the o-rings get old and hard. I’ll try to find a thread for you.
Here you go. https://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?p=6410466 Post 89 has some generic size info. Don’t under-rate the ability of the long bolt to leak - mine has a slight weep there again. |

Watch "Vct Au oil leak" on YouTube
https://youtu.be/13qtI0h8LPI Watch "Au oil leak" on YouTube https://youtu.be/0aiz09M4C3E This is another quick vid of it (21secs long) I have the car at a mechanic at the moment for ball joints and he mentioned it could be "..something... case gasket" and it would be a big job?? Does this look & sound right? When i feel that 10mm nut, i can feel what seems to be a small thread underneath it..

They can leak, and yes, a fair sized job. But work from the top down.

Had a couple ball joints and drive belt replaced today. I asked mechanic about the leak. He wasnt 100% sure. He cleaned up area a little and still wasnt quite sure of 1 of the leaks. I dont know if theres 2 or just the 1. But the connection plug on what i think may be called the solenoid...? Dont laugh lol im just starting to *try* and learn about cars. Its slowly dripping out that area and the hex shaft that its inside. I have a pit in the shed of my new place im renting. Not sure of where to go from here with it all.
The guy wasnt sure but was sure to give me a quote for a possible fix. Say that, hes the pro and I hope hes right enough.. Any ideas of where i can go from or start from with this. 9 second dodgy video below Watch "Au vct oil leak #7000" on YouTube https://youtu.be/9LAih-2mskk
