Default Camry debuts in Strictly Ballroom sequel?

OK I know Camry jokes are getting well-worn and a couple of people were injured, but I have trouble not laughing at this one. 83 yo bloke trashes his own dance studio with his Camry:

http://www.news.com.au/national/nsw-...-1227044950508

Anybody for some amateur auto-forensics? There's a solid skid line all the way in on the left wheels only. He's gone through the front door, done a pas de deux across the dance floor, slewing to the left, then through the mirrors and partly exiting through the side wall of the building.

Driver or Camry I wonder?

Looking at the skidmarks and the intensity, I can only think it was a fault in the car. Even a well seasoned hoon would have a hard time trying to do that.

Probably had more skidmarks in his jocks after that.

He should have done a pirouette instead of the quickstep.

Didn't Corollas have issues with the electronic throttle causing WOT?

I hope grandDad is ok and this incident wasn't a result of driver error or blackout

Looks like a problem with the car to me.

Looking at the 5th photo showing the skid mark outside.
You can see a second, fainter, tyre mark just to the left of the dark one. It looks to follow the position the rear wheel would have taken on that turn.

IMO, throttle fail to WOT, driver was on the brakes causing the left rear tyre to produce the second mark.

Of course purely speculative. Interested to know the outcome though.

Often when I see these type of incidents on the News headlines you just know it's going to be an old person driving either a Corolla or Camry.
Sure enough when they get to the story, more often than not this is the case.
The explanation is always the same, foot hard on the accelerator instead of the brake, they panic and flatten it and aren't quick enough to figure out they're on the go juice and not the anchors.

Brakes will always overpower an engine. Especially in a Camry...

He simply mashed the wrong pedal, and as what happens with most geriatrics he simply assumed he needed to press the "brake" harder if he was going to stop.

You're right ( I live in Perth too), what I should have said, if it crashes into a house it's usually someone pished or a hoon, but if it's at a commercial premises with a car park it's usually a Granny or Granpa.
